I totally agree with that take. I have no problem with them asking him for a paycut. But why the hell did they wait until the first week of August?
Good for him. He has made plenty of money and leaves while he is healthy. Ten years is a good run. He's a smart guy. Time to lose 80 pound and enjoy his kids.
Reports are saying Brick would have stayed if we paid his full salary,What a quitter if that's true which I'm sure it is.Ring of honor!!!! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-stayed-if-jets-wouldve-paid-his-full-salary/
Thanks for posting this - good informative read. Personally I don't think this is as major of a misread or a mistake on the Jets part as most others seem to think. Yes it leaves them with a temporary hole at LT but in Brick's case the salary really didn't add up - he's been in a steady decline for a couple of seasons now. i think Mac knew it could very well come down to this seeing the cap relief. I also think OT will now be addressed in the 1st round for sure - I thought it would be before Brick retired also. Yes the Jets have done a terrible job in regards to bringing in and maintaining good players for the OL. It will take a good two years to build it back up to standard...I see both OT and C being drafted relatively early this year with the C going to RG for now. Eventually I think we'll see Jarvis Harrison get his chance....
Your talking the diffrence from making 8 million to now making 4 million and trying to compare it to regular work.
Macc gambled by asking Brick now rather than in February and lost. The odds were greater Brick would take a pay cut now, but since he didn't, we have fewer options and less leverage than we would have at the start of free agency.
Rumor has it we want to trade up..to # 1 spot TY Mr Ferguson...I think he is leaving on good terms. Ring of Honor inductee I think the man did it for the Team IMO. Mac asked to free up 4 mil and brick hand s you 9... A class act
He couldnt take a pay cut and give us a year to try and fill this hole so he retires instead. But he would have stayed on if he didnt have to take a pay cut.Now we have a massive hole to fill ,why didnt he do this 3 months ago?
Brick's a class act anyway, but I don't think his decision to retire factors into that. If Macc wanted the 9M more than the pay cut, he could have cut Brick.
Nah, Manish's editor is saying that, and Florio loves re-reporting anything that is negative about the Jets.
Why do you not put a space after a comma or period? It's just weird. Btw, he's an all time great Jet that's been telling the Jets what he's been thinking for weeks now. Why shit on an all time great. Unless that's your thing. _
