Cheers, D'Brick. Liked the pick at the time, and have loved it over the last 10 years. A class act.

    You're gonna be missed.

Its insane and sad to see the amount of qb's we wasted with an elite LT in the ranks.

Great member of the Jets #60

Mostly, only good things to say. Slight decline, not sure if he could keep up with evolving NFL, running Qbs. Will be missed on the left side...

While creating much needed cap space, leaves a gaping hole on the left side.

Oline is the greatest necessity of this team

    And a punter!

    I said when healthy, dipshit!
    :)

D'Brick couldn't run block like Long, who was about as good of a pass blocker.

i don't see how he was insulted. he insulted us by making all that money and greatly helping get our QB's killed the last 2 years

I don't think he was ever much more than above average. 3 pro-bowls big deal. zero all-pro's probably eliminates that "Best LT of his last 10 years" talk. His durability was fantastic and he was for sure a leader of men. Great team player. Not sure if that should factor in to his skills though.

Regardless, i appreciate his time here.

Definitely not, his cap hit this year was $14.1M, all prorated bonuses come due this year which is $3.73M from this year and $1.28M from next year. Total of $5M subtracted off the $14.1M leaves a cap savings of $9.1M

Geezus the jets can't even retire at the right time. LOL....... don't know about u folks but this is not good for the roster. Realize the cap room created but this is not the time to be rebuilding an OL.

Am beginning to think its prudent to draft an OT every year instead of the common notion of drafting a QB.

If they are indeed shopping Wilkerson me thinks the return package HAS to include an experienced OT.

I was there when we drafted him. I liked the pick, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want us to get Matt Leinart (thank goodness). Loved that we took Mangold in the same draft. We've had an aging line and they have done nothing to fill in behind it, Brick just made us speed up the process. Enjoy retirement.

We could have a similar draft. 2006 they traded a stud DE for a 1st rounder and took 2 offensive linemen. They drastically upgraded the offensive line in 1 day.

Same thing could happen this year. A stud DE as a trade piece and big needs on the offensive line

On the reminiscing train right now, and thinking about how awesome the top ends of the 06' and 07' drafts were. Ferguson and Mangold 06', Revis and Harris 07'. Concrete building blocks for a decade on both sides of the ball. These are the types of hits at the top we need for sustained success. Here's hoping history repeats itself with 16' and 17'.

D'Brick was a great Jet and will be missed. Now let's see if the Browns will trade Joe Thomas and their second round pick for Mo Wilk and our third.

He was great for us. In his prime he was one of the best in the league.

I think this was a perfect end to a near perfect career. We've lost a very good (not great) player who was a consistent pro on the decline. It frees up a couple of $$m for Fitz (no more than $10.5 as far as I'm concerned for a mid-range QB) and we get to keep our best player (Mo) if we want to. The draft looks pretty deep at tackle (don't go after Clady or Thomas), so draft two - and get rid of Giacomini whilst we're at it. Nab a decent punter and I'm happy.

Now it all makes sense. Mac must have known about this for a while, the way he's been negotiating with free agents with almost no cap space. Replacing brick won't be easy. Even an average / below average OT is tough to find without overpaying. This virtually guarantees an OT being drafted in round 1 or 2.

Thanks for everything, Brick! It's rare to have an oline guy not miss a single game. He definitely put in work.
