I am not a draftnik but they should have gone for what I call a game changer. Either O or D no matter just that he can change the flow of the game in our favor. IMHO you do not wasted the #4 overall pick on a OLman

Well we drafted him so we have no choice to sign him right?

Vernon Davis won't be effective if his quarterback can't stay upright because the left tackle is a turd.

That's not how you build a championship team. If you were building your dreamhouse, what would you get first? The big screen plasma TV or the foundation to the house?

Barry Sanders was a game changer, can we agree on that. How much success did the Lions have without a quality O-Line? These picks are solid selections in the process of building a winning team. Most of the teams who dont compete on a yearly basis, dont compete because they ignore their O and D Lines. You can have 3 first round WRs, a first round RB and a first round QB (Detroit last year) and you see how productive they are without a quality O-Line. It is a basic understanding for anyone who has played the game. They are all won in the trenches. You think the Cowboys have their dynasty without Larry Allen, Eric Williams, Stepnoski. Those are the triplets that allowed Dallas to control games, the other three, just collected the fruits of their labors. You will never see a team deep in the playoffs that has a weakness on O-Line.

Champ, normally I respect your posts and POV, but in this case I think your wrong. I think the first two rounds of this year's draft was just about the smartest way they could have gone. In two or three years, if we are a competitive team on the rise--and lord knows that's a big "if"--then we will be able to point to the drafting of Brick, Mangold and Clemons as the foundation. A strong, smart O-line that develops together IS the backbone of a good offense, along with a good QB. Any knowledgeable analyst will tell you that. We will just have to wait and see if these players turn out as we hope. Which game changers should we have picked instead? Sacrifice the farm for Bush, or Mario Williams? Pick Leinhart, Cutler? I don't see any better scenario.

I have only been on this board for a little less than a year. In that time, I have seen Champ start wars with his opinions. However, up until the past couple of weeks, I could at least see he had a point, even if it was cynical and as far to the Darkside as I could ever imagine one person being.

However, lately, he seems to just be driven on the urge to start all-out fights. He hijacked the thread, solely to complain about our team's choice of draft picks. The time for that complaining ended for everyone else months ago. Seems someone has a really tough time moving foward in life.

Champ, since you enjoy handing out awards so much, here is one for you. You get my "Completely Ridiculous Absolutely Baseless Speeches" award.

There you go Champ. Now everyone knows you have C.R.A.B.S.

You think a dominate Oline doesn't change the outlook of the game. You sound worst with each post

You would have been complaining about Leinart, Cutler, Davis...etc. anyway so there's no winning with you. I just wish you would keep it to yourself b/c you're not exactly adding any new material or insights, just the same old negativity.
