junc has a point though, we did bring a lot of guys in to improve the team before Favre got here. I think bringing him in was the final move, and having a brand new practice facility helps bring a new atmosphere, too. A lot of things working together, obviously Favre being a big piece because he has the ball in his hands on every play, but not the only piece.

Oh I agree that he's not the only piece. I noticed yesterday how good our receivers are. When you have a guy that can deliver the ball, they can catch.

3 TDs in one drive. It sounds terrible but when is the last time you saw the jets avoid an implosion when things get tough? Usually, a TD negated by a penalty, on any down, would result ultimately in a FG, let alone having 2 negated and still coming away with 6.

This team can be good. They still have a little suck in them, but the general trend is more-good, less suck.

That's what happens when you can block, run the ball and stop people on D. Makes your QB look good even when he throws two picks and gives away 7 points on the first series.

Yeah the first one I would have liked to see the WR turn into a DB and prevent the INT. Still....if Favre leads him a bit more or just throws it away it would have been much better.

The picks were of no consequence? They kept Cincy in the game where we could have put them away much earlier. They were w/in a score in the 4th qtr. it wound up not mattering but what if Cincy makes a play and takes a 21-20 lead? then what? You let bad teams hang around then a fluky play or drive can beat you. Ask redskin fans how they are feeling today.

the first one matters. the second one was like a good punt. didn't really help cincy out much there.

its called the brett favre mentality. When asked about progression on each and every play he says its touchdown check down, every play is designed to score a touchdown. He took shots down around the goal line that even though ill adviced did not hurt the team, I like the mentality, I like where this team is going. Remember the team we played yesterday gave the giants all they could handles ;with or without palmer. we manhandled them other then one drive before half that if the replay booth did job they should would have not counted

Sure, 2ints and a fumble but,

Many passes right on the money! Some unbelievable! Great decision making--great ball fakes--great look aways--great audibling! Great understanding of the field!

Three times into the endzone in the 1q after going down 7-0? Who else in the history of the jets could have done that besides Joe.

Who keeps this group together, who has made the jets a contender? Great players all around yeah, but CP or Clemens QB'ing and its a totally different story.

I'm aghast at some of the anti-Favre posting going on. Some fan went as far as to say that "the Jets won despite Favre". That guy should have Fitzgerald on his team.

The jets were going to be a contender before we got favre. We are a contender b/c of the many good moves we made this offseason specifically strengthening the lines.

My posts aren't anti-Favre, I am happy w/ him and I like him but outside of the Arizona game he has NOT played well and yesterday he almost single handedly kept a bad team in a game w/ us. I see people actually bashing the D who allowed Just 7 points(should have been 3) yet people are praising Favre when he kept Cincy in the game?

^Well, I respect your knowledge and your opinions so maybe I'm missing something. For now, I guess I just respectfully disagree on the level of his play.

I love Brett Favre, he hasn't played very well yet outside of the Arizona game yet it is still obvious he is the best Qb we have had, possibly ever but certainly since Namath.

You missed Vinny in 1998. I don't think any Jet QB has ever had a better year, it will be hard for anyone to ever match it.

I'm happy we got Favre too, by the way. I just think fans, especially here, go overboard one way or the other. Last year everything was Chad's fault even when it wasn't, this year Favre can do no wrong even when he does wrong. He didn't have a great game yesterday at all, the D and Leon Washington particularly saved him.

If Cincy had gone up 21-20, seeing the way our defense was playing yesterday and despite his 2 int's; knowing that Brett Favre was behind center still gives me the confidence that we would've eventually driven down field and won this game. That's the culture and attitude Favre brings to this team. We'll never really be out of it, with Brett Favre in the game. Like Brett says, "If we're going to go down, we're going down swinging".

The same cannot be said about any quarterback we've had in the last few years.

Oh I didn't miss Vinny T, I saw every game first hand. He defintely had a great season but I dont think their is any question who the better QB is and always has been. I've never been one to get too high or too low & have never blamed Pennington for everything, I supported Pennington till the end. Favre is not off to a great start but I stand by my feelings that he is the best QB the Jets have had in my lifetime and possibly ever.

I enjoyed the hell out of the game yesterday. Watching Brett enjoy the game enhanced my enjoyment.

Too bad for that first INT by Favre. Take that throw away and you can't really say he had a bad game. He had a very high completion percentage and that final drive to get a TD was great. They ate up clock and made it a 2 posession lead. Teams (and fans) always want a QB who can play solid QB for them and give the team a chance to win in the 4th quarter. You really can't expect a QB to be great all the time. You just want them to put points on the board and make some plays when they have to. Its amazing how people criticize players for simply getting the job done and not looking spectacular while doing so in virtually every moment of the game.
IMO the intangibles are so underrated for a QB......like some here mentioned- the audibles and checkdowns. Reading defenses. Stuff that doesn't show up on ESPN highlight reels. There's been plenty of times that Brett has made great plays in his career that don't involve TD passes. Great QB play doesn't only equate to points. Its about ball possession and moving the chains, even if they end up punting. An example of that would be the jets getting the ball inside their own 10 yard line and Favre making some great reads and throws to get the ball out near midfield before punting. Maybe that doesn't mean much to some people because it was a scoreless posession, but that changes the entire complexion of the game because of field position. It takes a lot of pressure off the defense if they have an 80 yard field to work with rather than a 40 yard field.

He played well against Miami too. He wasn't great against New England or San Diego, but coming from a big Chad fan, if Chad had put up numbers like that in those games there would be a lot of people saying he played pretty well.

I agree that yesterday he didn't play very good

Gah one of them left them at their own 3. Also, Baker missed a block which is what got Favre stripped of the ball. Can't really usee those two instances. Yes they scored on the fumble but that was Baker's fault really.

Another left them inside the 20, which means we blew two scoring chances and came away with 0. The second one was a chance to make it a two-posession game in the 4th quarter, instead we gave them the ball. It's a good thing Palmer wasn't playing or they might have beaten us by having one too many chances.

We were out of it quick at SD, down 1 pt to Cincy I'd still have confidence but we have won plenty of those types of games in recent years.

He was ok against Miami but the ups and downs are to be expected it's just when fans are going gaga over mediocre performances that I have a problem. He was ok against Miami(much like Cincy our O should have put that game away earlier), poor against NE, poor at SD(I don't count the garbage time points he led us to), great against Ari and medicore against Cincy. My biggest fear was Favre taking too much time to get up to speed, that fear has been put put aside. I feel confident he's getting this O down, he's still going to have games like yesterday but hopefully they don't hurt us.
