Hearing more on the story, Notre Dame knew about this on Dec 26th. Apparently, the so called girlfriend was an "on-line reationship"......sounds fishy and people are trying to do damage control.

The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators. Notre Dame's and Te's statements are so full of shit. Both shouldn't have said anything... His father said they met many times. He said they met and talked to each other.
Rex is literally tripping over feet right now to trade up and draft him. Says he would be "Perfect Jet".
Stuff like this happens a lot. For example, watch the show on MTV Catfish or the documentary. Falling in love online with someone who isn't real isn't a rarity. I'm still skeptical of these statements but just pointing out this happens.
You never know, maybe his father was just covering for his son because he had an online relationship with somebody he never met. It is an embarrassing thing, and like I said above, happens. Although, the whole blow up of the story about the two of them is suspicious, it's a very confusing story (Manti's)
lets stay on topic here though i don't want to draft this guy anymore, regardless of what round he falls to. i know he is a talented linebacker, but we would get hammered for drafting him after this. this guy lied to a nation (sortof)
