He only wants to be here because the alternative is Buffalo. An unstable franchise in an undesirable location with a 91 year old owner and no heirs that want to run the team is a terrible opening. If a good opening was available he'd be interviewing hat in hand. I hope he's watching Sanchez and the offense in this late surge and realizing how much he contributed to the problems earlier. If he's not we're going to be pissed off next fall.
Continuity is key for an offense, especially with Sanchez learning it as a rookie, it will help his progress into next year. But we're not concerned about next year yet. Nice that any possible distraction is now a non-factor. champ--your #1 source for breaking news.
Translation: I want to stay in New York, I want to remain part of this organization...unless--any team better than Buffalo--shows some interest.
Did he not turn down a second interview with the Dolphins after the 2006 season? Where else has he interviewed apart from with us? I can't think of any.
I like the decision for stability purposes as far as the O is concerned. While I'm not totally in love with this style of passing the fact that the running game is so pure this could have some mileage on it and maybe Shotty and Mark can grow a passing game kinda like Belly did with Brady.
That's the biggest change we've seen late in the season. Schotty seemed much more gung ho about walking up into a HC position after the previous 2 seasons. He seemed confident in his abilities to the point of feeling ready to step into anything. It sure seems like he's realized as the season goes on that he still has a lot to learn. He's been open to adjusting his offense, and we've reaped the benefits. You can see this reflected in his comments lately. He had never come out and mentioned being content with the OC job until he was forced to abandon the offense he was trying to put in place and develop one that better suits where the personnel is at right now. It very well could be that he just doesn't want to go to the Bills, but IMO it's at least possible that he realizes he's just not ready yet to be a HC.
Wow. Great news. Continuity for our young, franchise quarterback has been assured  Also, how sad is it that not even a young offensive coordinator is interested in interviewing for the Bill job. When coordinators are turning down interview offers for your head coaching position, you know your team is worthless.
I think that he was more gung ho about leaving for a head coaching job after the past 2 seasons because working for Eric Mangini is hell on earth. He and Ryan seem to have an excellent working relationship though, so now he's willing to stay put until a good opportunity comes his way. That's my take on it anyway.
agree with all of this. i look forward to watching mark and schotty grow together, hopefully into a force to be reckoned with. and im floored by the fact that no one wants the bills job. its hysterical. i mean if i was a young coach i would look at it as an opportunity to become a legend in the league by turning around the raiders east.
According to Schefter he turned it down now and after the season. If those words were spoken, I'm sure the Bills have moved on.
Good point. He could be driving up his price because Schotty's best stuff is yet to come in the upcoming weeks. I'm down with it.
I don't think so. A lot of Gint fans I work with are hoping Gruden takes the job after Coughlin's failings next year.
Players like playing for Rex, Coaches like coaching for Rex. Good for Schotty and good for the Jets. Lets keep the whole staff intact
