I like this pick up. We did have him last year but maybe things change. From what I've seen he was really good in college.
We must have the tiniest fucking receiving corps in football between Holmes, Kerely, Gates and now Gilyard. they're all like sub-6 feet (Gilyard has upside though, I like the pickup)
We cut him last year but this year he has an upside??? If he has an upside why did we cut him to begin with, And what is his upside???
After reading your posts for this season, it's clear that anything the Jets have done, or have the ability to do, you're going to sarcastically dismiss it. This year blows for everybody but we have to be realistic with the options we have, and that includes bringing in someone who just gave up on their 4-7 team
I was surprised Gilyard didn't succeed in any NFL team during his career... guess he doesn't show a lot in training. He has talent, was drafted in rd 3 I think...
I think he was the 1st pick of Round 4. He's still young, hopefully he will mature, St Louis lost patience with him.
Can we stop with the turn-style WR corp. This is ridiculous. Whoever is going to be our QB give him the same f'ing guys to throw to every week.
Tanny had no choice to sign someone this week, 3 WRs are hurt. The only healthy WR on the Jets is Hill.
Fine, So we have 3WR. Play 2 WR Sets, Let McKnight take some reps. Throw Keller out in the Slot. Activate another big body to put on the line so we can pound ARI with running game. Bringing in some guy, who we've already seen his upside, for a week does nothing for us. As we've seen throughout the season. Even when these guys get in the game they're more or less a non-factor and cause communication/route breakdowns. He now has 3 practice days ( maybe 2 ?) to get on the same page and re-learn the playbook and you think he's going to help this team come Sunday?
I agree the churning at the bottom of the roster isn't accomplishing much of anything. Chaz, White, Gates (probably out) and Kerley are questionable. We need another receiver and Gilyard was probably the best option, they aren't many quality Wrs available this time of year.
He's a body to fill in on a 4-7 team with a bunch of banged up receivers....... some of you people are ridiculous
Well look where we are we are 4-7 coming off the worst loss in years, So I was wrong to dismiss the moves we have made???That were awful and didn't make the team better. In the beginning of the season MR.T said he belived the next Victor Cruz was on our roster somewhere
Are you suggesting no other team in the NFL has injuries at the WR position? The Jets had a shitty WR get injured so they replaced him with another shitty WR. This isn't difficult to understand and there's really nothing to complain about with this one.
As TJB pointed out, his biggest contribution will likely come on special teams. Jets' punt return game has been a disaster since week 2. Gilyard will return punts and play specials. He was a stud in college, but it doesn't seem like that has translated to the next level.
