I said this was a mistake all along. Morton didn't want to run a lot behind that shitty offensive line6 so what. He didnt get along with Bowles so what. He was right and our shitty HC was wrong so naturally we fired him. This franchise is now worse than the Browns. Let that sink in.
The DC gets all the new hotness also compliments of Macc. Williams, Adams, Maye, Johnson, Lee and does nothing with it. The Jets have stopped no one in 4 years when its counted.
Then Macc should step in and fire him then. That would send a message and hopefully get some accountability somewhere in this organization. The snowball effect might actually be worth it. Bowles might be pissed that his lover is gone and he also leaves...bonus. Then the Jets could evaluate the rest of the staff to see who might be retained by the next head coach. If none step up and show something, then clean house.
Morton put together a functioning offense with old man McCown and less talent last year than this year, where we have more talent across the board on O (albeit not great) Why the hell was Bowles given the authority to fire the one guy who did his job well last year? I will write it down in blood. Bowles will never again get a HC job at any level. Rodgers will probably never even get an assistants job Edwards and Hackett were more competent. They literally were. The Jets were more together, more competent with these too. No penalties, no turnovers. They understood the strengths of the team and played to them. They did not ask Chad to do something he wasn't capable of. They were not throwing bombs on 3rd and 1 and then 4th and 1. They better utilized our personnel.
Bowles got it in his head that we really were this contending team last season that simply didnt finish games. He needed a scapegoat to further justify & like usual thats gotta be the OC. So he convinced himself to believe that the pass oriented offense that struggled to run the ball at key moments is what ultimately failed this team & fired Morton. He then decided against going outside the organization to find a solution likely bc no one would want the job given that theyd be the 3rd OC in 3 years for a conservative defensive coach w bottom barrel offensive talent. Even Bates turning down the job initially wasnt enough to convince him otherwise.
How about Kliff Kingsbury , Texas Tech head coach. Innovative O. Brian Baldinger had some interesting tweets on Offensive systems in NFL , how they are changing. The videos are on his twitter page. I would post them but I am lost linking these sites. Lets not do the retread crap.
If we're going with a first time HC, I'd rather go with a young OC, they seem to be better than the college coaches. McVay, Nagy, etc.
