Jessie's Aunt left the house to him in her will (or at least the use of the house) until the parents found the meth lab and used the knowledge of it to kick him out. The $400,000 only compensated them for the improvements they made afterwards. Jessie came up with the idea as soon as he found out the house was for sale. Payback is a bitch.
I just completely caught up with this show and I couldn't agree more. If you're reading this thread and you've never seen Breaking Bad, do yourself a favor and watch it.
^I forget the actor's name who got his head half-sawed, half-macheted off in the opening scene. That was the head on the tortoise in a previous episode where Walter's brother-in-law vomits in the desert before that explosion where the DEA agents get killed. Plus, I can't believe the free license this show has with cursing. Being an inveterate potty mouth misself, it gets me right in here. Sniffle.
SPOILERS It's Danny Trejo. He's an awesome character actor. I knew it was his head on the tortoise the whole time. His character bragged about having the nickname Tortuga ("bean speak for turtle")...just great writing. AMC probably pays good money to have this shown with limited censorship.
Yeah seriously, I didn't even think about what it meant until now. This show is so fucked up that it's sort of hard to watch it. It was insanely intense and depressing when she said that to Walter. I can't wait till next week to see how he reacts.
This bodes well for AMCs upcoming adaptation of "The Walking Dead" Comic mini-series. It's rife with gore/language. I think they are going to do it justice.
Yeah I saw that they were doing that, should be pretty good. AMC is pretty much turning into the next HBO, I just wish AMC would start broadcasting in HD on DirecTv. Watching Breaking Bad and Mad Men in standard definition makes me want to cry.
Yeah, the third season has definitely been straddling the line between edge of the seat and edge of ennui, but the payoff at the end was so worth it.
Is anyone else completely on Walt's side on this? I know he's lying meth cook, but Skyler has been a complete bitch to him in almost every episode. You're really bored during this season? The scene with Jesse listening to his dead girlfriend's voicemail recording over and over again was a bit repetitive, but I actually feel for his character. He's blaming himself for her death and that plane crash. I hope he stays clean.
While Walt is no prize, he has been loyal to his family and kept them in the dark for their own good. Also, let's not forget that before the show started, he was a good guy and even had a demeaning second job at a car wash to help support them. Sklyer is an arrogant bitch and a hypocrite in bad need of a reality check. Where do I even start? Helping her boss cook the books as an accountant. Going back to work for boss that sexually harrassed her in the past. Trying to keep Walt from seeing his own kids through extortion (threat of exposing him). Keeping Walt & Jessie's alleged marajuana dealing and actual meth dealing from the cops Lying to the cops about her issues with Walt. Adultery with her lecherous, tax cheat of a boss even though she doesn't care about him. Saying that her motive is to keep the truth from her kids when she should know damn well that the Feds will take the house and other assets.
Not just that...But she knows her boss is a crook thats cooking the books.....SO she perefers one cook over the other? I'm hoping that at some point Walter finds out that her boss is a crook
Mike the Fixer has their house bugged. I'm sure Saul will hear something from him. What's really crazy is that it seems the fixer is working for both the cartel and Saul - at least he saved Walt's life by getting those two sociopathic, robot-like mexicans out of his house...they seemed really interested in his new baby daughter, let's hope they don't go after his kids.
God, I could not agree more. I think that Skyler's character is such a raving bitch. She really seems like every husband's worst nightmare in so many ways. I can't wait to see Walt's reaction next episode after Skyler's big admission.
I'm not saying that the show is bad in any way, more like they set the standards so high for themselves that the third season hasn't been up to those lofty standards. The show is not boring by normal standards, its just that the first two seasons had me staring at the tv with my mouth open an heart racing wondering what was going to happen next. Now it's more like I feel like I'm waiting to be waiting for something to happen. The tension when she came home and found him in the house was unnerving though (what I've come to expect)...excellent drama. I saw her as the same raving bitch for the first two seasons, but the reality is that her husband chose to become a meth dealer and opened up Pandora's box of evil on not just his life, but that of his family. Let's not also forget his past indiscretions. The guy is a mess, sure we're all still rooting for him, but Skyler deserves some slack all things considered. How do you know she knows that she will lose the house if she reports him? The reason she gave in the session with her lawyer was protection of the children, figuring that it would resolve itself with Walt's eventual death. I see no reason to believe not reporting him has anything to do with her material concerns. On top of that, she told the boss that she wouldn't be a part of cooking the books. In returning to the house and putting her between a rock and a hard place, Walt left her with no choice but to take some power back. He really stuck it to her. Her reaction was both appropriate and IMO, cathartic.
In terms of dialogue, plot, and character development this show is extremely well done. I loved the first two seasons and watched each show religiously. Aesthetically- fantastic. If Franz Kafka made a t.v show, it would probably look something like this. That said, it has gotten so damn depressing that it's been hard to watch of late. Yes, Walt's wife is an annoying, sanctimonious bitch at times. But Walt certainly has his own issues and has been a pretty big asshole himself. The circumstances thrust upon them are so bad where I can't go so far as to say that they deserve this, but part of me just wants to say "fuck those two people, I can't care about them anymore". Last season Jesse and Hank (to a lesser extent) were the only people that brought comic relief and who I didn't find myself disliking more every episode. Now even they do nothing to lighten the tone. I still can't wait to see how the plot plays out long term but jesus, this is some jet-black material.
