It was very misleading. It was probably an honest mistake, but please be more careful. Less headaches all around.
BTW, that mention of the Cleveland Plains Dealer is just a repeat of the PFT.com rumor, there is no substance to this.
A 26 year old receiver that can do this? Sign me up.
Edwards looks good in the clip. A clip of highlights. He didn't fumble the ball once. Not even a single drop.
I don't see why so many want TJ so bad...He's holding out, he's 31. He muscled for yards in 2007. And when the Jets improved their OLine, he made the Pro-Bowl. This OLine, Leon or Greene can get yards with no problem...Make the trade. No brainer. Cotch-Braylon-ClownMan-Keller...I like.
Jets-Browns swap in the works? Braylon Edwards | Browns | Interested: Giants? Jets? Eagles? Like some other writers on the beat of their local NFL team, Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer occasionally offers up a mailbag column, responding to readers' questions. In the latest edition, Grossi responds to queries on the likelihood of two players on other teams ending up in Cleveland Browns uniforms by the start of 2009: Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown and New York Jets running back Thomas Jones. Both Brown and Jones are upset over their respective contracts, and while a trade involving either player is not thought to be imminent, it still remains a possibility for both. Grossi dismisses the notion that the Browns would trade receiver Braylon Edwards to the Eagles for Brown straight up, indicating that this would not be a very good return for Cleveland. As for Jones, Grossi calls a trade sending Edwards to the Jets "more likely," and also indicates that the Browns would sign Jones "in a New York second" if the Jets could not reach an agreement and elected to release him. With DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis and newly drafted Jeremy Maclin on the roster, the Eagles wouldn't seem to be a likely trade partner if the Browns wished to part ways with Edwards anyway. On the flip side, the Jets appear to be on the hunt for a true No. 1 option at wideout as recent rumors have them very interested in Plaxico Burress. Lastly, the New York Giants are still in the mix for Edwards, and could send one member of their impressive stable of running backs to Cleveland as part of the deal that would likely also include future draft picks. Danny Ware, who was thought to be the replacement for Derrick Ward this season, indicated on his blog that he was a little upset that the Giants used a fourth-round pick on a running back, and Ware could be the odd man out depending on what happens as the offseason program continues. For his part, Michael Irvin told Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News that he was "floored and shocked" that the Giants didn't swing a trade for Edwards or Anquan Boldin during the draft weekend.
I agree with you. While i really like TJ i don't think you can argue with trading a 31 year old RB who's holding out, for a 26 Y/O WR who has tremendous upside. This is a no brainer.
So... basically it's another report of the unconfirmed rumor from the same guy at the Cleveland Plain Dealer that it's a 'possibility' that this trade is ever going to happen. That's some serious insider info, ESPN. It's also a possibility that softball-sized hail comes down tomorrow while I am walking out to my car, ut I don't think I'll be wearing a suit of armor out the front door.
This wouldn't be a straight up trade. We'd be giving up pick(s) as well. TJ and a third works for me. TJ and a second if they agree to take Bryan Thomas.
I really don't think we can afford a $7-$10 million a year receiver who doesn't deserve that much money. I realized this after thinking about the top 5 money for Sanchez on top of the top 6 money for Gholston today.
I'm not so quick to give away Thomas. Not that he's been anything to brag about but who's gonna replace him? TJ and a 3rd seems a bit much just for the fact that i'm not seeing many teams breaking down Clevelands door for Edwards. You know they don't want to keep him so i'm looking at TJ & a 4th at best.
