Well, maybe if the OLine hasn't sucked monster dick this entire season so far, Holmes wouldn't have had to point out the obvious. Perhaps the OLine should look in the mirror and ask why our run game sucks, why our passing game sucks, and why Sanchez is a 50million dollar pinata and why we're 2-3 when we really should be 1-4. Speaking the truth on the Jets evidently gets folks mad. If the Oline doesn't like it and wants to shut up Holmes, perhaps they could drag their collective sorry asses to the game Monday night and make a statement instead of getting themselves bitchslapped all over the field. At the end of the day, Holmes as a SB ring and a MVP to back him up. The Jet OLine only has a reputation that evidently isn't accurate anymore.
Well, Fuck Brandon Moore honestly. I think he's been a great player and overlooked by most of the NFL and the average fan, but when mangold got hurt did he bother stepping up? Did he bother to learn the protection calls? He's been here longer than any other lineman. how come he doesn't; know the protection calls yet? How about not letting the oline completely unravel since you're the longest tenured member on the line? How about step up and be a fuckin leader before you question the leadership of others. Jenks called him and D'brick out on that (regarding the protection calls) and it's spot on.
with you 100% on this. It's not like holmes has been fucking up. he hasn't even got a chance to perform due to play calling and poor offensive line work
Perhaps so Mack, but its hard to apply those morals to the modern athelete. Back in the day, these things were kept inside the lockerroom. Now with tweeting and other instant media, that's a hard thing to do especially with players being as passionate/egotistical as they are. I'm not saying that Holmes was right in point this out but its become painfully obvious that the Jet FO/CS is in "see no evil/hear no evil/speak no evil" mode.
Rex needs to step up. I don't know if this is the right way to put it, but Rex is kind of a big pussy when it comes to coming down on his own guys. Next time he is at the mic, make a stand. Say there is no place in the locker room for putting down your own teammates and making a fool out of the NY Jets organization, whether what they were saying was right or wrong. I would sit both Holmes and Moore on Monday night for a series or two. I don't know who the hell would replace Moore, but send a goddamn message. We need to get back to being a TEAM because that is what made us so good in 09 and 10 - when these guys believe in EACHOTHER, they cannot be beat - and I don't think for one game this year they played as a team.
So let me get this straight. Holmes shouldn't say negative things about the players to the press, but rex should? I don't expect that anyone here is privy to what goes on in the locker rooms and meetings.
This is what happens when you talk Superbowl with a shitty qb and an even worse OC. You lose 3 games and all hell breaks loose. I shudder to think what would happen if they lost again to the 0-4 Dolphins.
If the best the Steelers could get was a fifth rounder, this only adds to confirm the bargain. You get what you pay for. Is this guy a baller, absolutely. Just these things are never a good thing and typically don't end well. This has to end
Not only is it a really bad idea to start bitching to the press the way the Jets apparently are but it's a worse idea when there's really nothing that the players getting bitched about can do about it. Wayne Hunter was a backup tackle for 3 teams over 6 years before the Jets had to start him for a few games in a row last year because of Damien Woody's injury. There's no chance in hell that he's starting material because NFL teams do not miss out on 318 lb talent for 6 years in a row and through 3 coaching staffs. Double-visioning him into a starter was a huge error by Tannenbaum and Ryan and it's what started this whole clusterfuck in motion. You can live with Matt Slauson at LG if he's the only weakish player on the line. You can't live with him there if there's somebody even weaker on the other side. The whole thing comes crashing down then, as it has. Hunter can't shape up to play well at RT because he's not a starting RT. Having Holmes go off about the line is like kicking a corpse and expecting it to get up. It ain't gonna work and it'll make the locker room all stinky in the process. The only way the Jets fix this mess this season is to find a real RT. Nothing else is going to be good enough to let the team make the playoffs.
I shudder to think what would happen if they lost again to the 0-4 Dolphins.[/QUOTE] May as well fold up the tents for the season if that happens!
Exactly. It's like when stupid assholes start posting about their shitty relationship/spouse on FB. If you want to work shit out, you keep it private. When you air your dirty laundry, it's like waiving the white flag.
Stuff like this needs to stay in the locker room. The Jets should not be airing their laundry in front of the media. Everybody knows that the oline is not playing that well you do not have to make it worse by whining to the public. Just kick the crap out of miami on monday night and get this bullsh*t out of the way. STFU and just play football.
