Looking at the Jets roster, there are a few guys that stand out as guys that I could see getting traded: Justin McCareins, Victor Hobson, David Barrett, and Erik Coleman. They would all fit the idea of "a pretty good player."

    Derrick Strait perhaps?

Well think, what does New England need in terms of depth probably.

Holy crap. If this happens, I will adjust my prediction of 4-12 to at least 6-10. Yeah, I know, big deal right? Yes it is. I have long thought 4 wins would be tough.

Can you imagine Branch, Coles, and Cotchery? With Smith and Dwight as fourth options? If Barlow works out, we may be a playoff team next year!

I'm getting too overexcited here. I need to go relax...

Basically! People think you can take a player from one team to the other and you automatically get the same results. You would think Jolley and McCareins, would teach us something. With our current situation I would think the Jets would try to get lesser known players ready to have break out seasons given the opportunity or at the very least players who won't demand such a high price tag. A guy like Bryant Johnson of the cardinals is having a stellar camp and pre-season, the light looks like it's finally on. I'm sure he can be had for less. There's a ton of teamsout there w/ a lot of depth at the WR position (Arizona, Cincy, Detroit and Miami to name a few); I would wait to see what's available after all the cuts are made.

Also, I really getting tired of all the midget WRs. We need to get some size at that position.

This morning I was still of the opinion that the Jets don't get involved in this sort of thing. Well seen how up to speed I am!

mccareins is the only one i would want to trade out of those....a high 2nd is enough for a disgruntled branch, we better not have to throw in a player that will hurt us and help a division rival

I don't think Strait classifies as "pretty good" Plus he's on the bubble to even make the team...

The possibilites to me are the ones Mack named and MAYBE Cedric Houston since Laurence Maroney had a knee injury last night. Houston is decent, but like Strait, is on the bubble on making the team.

I like the aggressiveness of the new regime. Solid free agent signings and some good trades as well. If we don't give up the farm, then I wouldn't mind getting Branch.

NE probably need a receiver or maybe secondary depth, so I could see someone like McCareins, Strait, or maybe Coleman going in the opposite direction.

Ugh. I want Coles as our #1 man. Realistically Branch would be our #2 anyway. the guy doesn't know our system and hasn't been playing.

The point is that we would have two top-flight wide receivers for Pennington to pass to, and that would be huge in the rebuilding of this offense.

I don't think it'd be so bad for Coles to be the 2nd option this point in his career. With his quickness and hands, he could dominate single-coverage...

But, could Branch handle being double-teamed is the question? Yes he was the #1 in New England, for whatever that's worth since they spread the ball around so much...

But, he would have a very good complementary WR in Coles like he had with David Givens...

Borges is like Cannizaro. He is bitter about being shut out of the inside information that he expects a team to provide to the beat reporters and so he is inevitably critical of anything the Patriots could be potentially faulted on.

He got screwed to hell and back when Belichik won 3 super bowls in a 4 year span. The fact that tightlips led to such tremendous success, bolstering Belichik's (and Parcell's and Mangini's) contention that reporters and the media are more damaging to a team than they are worth, just made the pill that more bitter.

I'm glad to see Mangini bringing the "screw the media" mindframe to the Jets. The job in the NFL is to win games not appease popular opinion.

I love Chad but there's no question Chad has the weakest arm of all the starting QBs in the NFL. Age might cause Brunell, Brad Johnson and Warner to give him a run for his money but Chad still holds that title. Can you imagine what Chad's arm will be like when he gets to be 35 and voer like those guys?

Oh gimmie a break...Coleman STRAIGHT UP for Branch you wouldn't do? Come on now.

Now, if you're saying you wouldn't do Coleman and the 2nd, then fine...I just want to part with JMac and a 2nd, but we'll see.

Who says Chad will be on this team after this season? With his cap number and the potential of Clemens, he might be expendable...
