This just in... PATS SAY NO!!! http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2568851 Like I was surprised...!!! I said it before, they held all the cards.
As ridiculous as the pats wanting 2 first rounders is, then you read nonsense like above and it's the complete other end of the spectrum. That's a generous offer. Offer for a young star receiver, a Super Bowl MVP, a WR who we don't want anymore. Yeah, nice offer, ridiculous.
dammit...Branch would have been nice, but maybe we did fuck over NE.. --------from espn.com The team issued a two-sentence statement on Friday, which read "No trade has been consummated. Deion Branch remains under contract to the New England Patriots." The team had no comment on the grievance. Branch had earlier reached agreements with the Seahawks and Jets on what ESPN.com has learned was a six-year, $39 million contract. The contract included a combined $13 million in guaranteed signing and option bonuses. Under the contract, Branch would have earned nearly $23 million in the first three years of the deal. Of course, the contract agreements with the Seahawks and Jets are essentially rendered moot now.
Oh well... we might be better off with him sticking around on the Pats though, as they now have themselves a bonafide TO.
Still though nobody else had a problem with that test. I'm not disagreeing with you i think McCareins should get a little bit of a break last year. I think if Pennington stays healthy this year McCareins could put up pretty good numbers. Pennington and McCareins were started to click at the end of the 2004 season.
  It's not me. Rules is rules. Unnecessary Word-Melding. That's a fifteen post penalty and an automatic first down.
I don't see how he is a TO. He hasn't been around the team since last season. He's skipped all minicamps and, and training camp. It's not like he came to camp, left, and is now holding press conferences in his driveway. And to the people who think that the Jets created this situation where he wouldn't report until week 10, he's been threatening that all along. I can't say I really believed it, but it's been threatened for the past month.

I don't think anyone is claiming the Jets 'created' the situation. But like hungry opportunistic vultures they may just have aggravated the situation. As you yourself said, Branch had been threatening holding out for a month, this may have pushed him over the edge.
yea but ill betcha if he didnt get a single bite on the trade date he would be playing for the pats the whole season now it sounds like hes already planning on sitting out for 10 games! (YES!!!!!)
If you want to believe he's sitting out because of the Jets, then that's fine, though it's been reported for the past month.
