i had a brief conversation with my bro and he said he heard the deal is dead.. It was a one minute convo so i didnt get into detail to what happen. He may be wrong, but he heard its dead.
Look, I'd be on board with Branch coming in. I'd love to have Coles, Branch, McCareins, Cotchery (my order if they were all here). I know that's probably not possible, so if McCareins has to go so be it, but it's expensive.
sure, you have to speculate, but you speculate future play based on past performance as well as how that would translate to your system, but there is no past performance of Branch on the Jets to speculate from, one of the key parts the action, so there is no argument. this is the ultimate wouldacouldashoulda argument that absoultely no information can be extrapolated from. a GM has to look at how a player has played and how that will translate to their team. your argument is strictly hypothetical and there is no logical right or wrong position. so what conclusion are you hoping to come to that somehow proves a point that does not exist.
Not trying to prove my point. It's an opinion they really can't be supported. The people who think McCareins sucks are entitled too but those who think I am an idiot because of my opinion are the ones I'm arguing against.
I dont think McCareins sucks either. His numbers were not great last year but he was playing with a 3rd string QB. He should get a little bit of a break for last year.
PER KFFL Patriots | Branch trade deadline expires Fri, 1 Sep 2006 13:06:16 -0700 ESPN reports the deadline for New England Patriots WR Deion Branch to negotiate his own trade has come and gone. The Patriots issued a statement saying Branch remains property of the team. Patriots | Branch files a grievance against the team Fri, 1 Sep 2006 12:56:26 -0700 Tom E. Curran, of NBC Sports.com, reports New England Patriots WR Deion Branch and his agent, Jason Chayut, have filed a grievance against the team with the NFLPA, according to sources. They are asking a special master to hear the grievance in an emergency meeting Friday, Sept. 1. Although the Seattle Seahawks talked numbers with Chayut, the New York Jets wound up being the only team to talk to New England about what its contract demands would be. The Jets offer, the source said, was for six years and $36 million but it had a "funky structure." Chayut is alleging that there was a verbal agreement between he and the Patriots that New England would deal Branch if presented with a "fair and reasonable" offer. Chayut also alleges that the Jets presented New England with that offer but that the Patriots didn't act on it.
Patriots Official Statement: I'm aghast. EDIT: "Consummated" was the word they used. I had to change it because that makes it sound much sexier.
true he was playing with a 3rd stringer, but even still he dropped some that were right on the money, as an NFL reciever you can't do that I dont care whos QB. Also it would be one thing If he showed up for camp disappointed about last year and busted his butt all off season, and was having a good camp; then yeah maybe I would be more willing to give him a pass on last season, but thats not the case.
Let's hope Deion feels "Disrespected" enough, by all of this, to sit out the first 10 weeks of the season.
Yeah it's a shocker. On the bright side the machine in East Foxboro is starting to jitter a bit. Can't be too long now before we get some cracks in the casing and it all begins to come apart.
That's pretty pathetic if New England did not want to lower their asking price of two 1st rounders. If Terrell Owens didn't even warrant a 1st rounder, how would Branch merit 2! I say screw New England and let Branch sit-out 10 weeks to burn Belichick...
Definitley. He showed up to training camp and couldnt pass a condtioning test. Theres no excuse for that. My only argument is that i think that if Pennington stays healthy he can put up good numbers. His first year wasnt terrible and he was working in a new system but with all that said i would still trade him if the right deal came along.
That's a fair point. I really have been disapointed with McCariens and frankly think Cotch has more upside. However Pennington clearly feels comfortable throwing the ball to McCariens in traffic and if we can't get an upgrade at the spot and Chad is the starter that has to be taken into account. If we could get Branch at a reasonable price I think it is a major upgrade worth pursuing. I agree with you that price matters. I do think Branch is a huge upgrade over McCariens.
He passed it the next day. If you are out of shape, you don't pass it the very next day. He cramped up.. his fault for not drinking enough water the daybefore maybe? Who knows... However, let's not make a big deal out of that. He was an example, and rightfully so, by the coaching staff that noone is above the test. But that's it.
