would the jets really waste time with this just to not get branch or to watch him hold out with the pats?

If the Jets FO is smart which all indications point to that they are, than they are in a no lose situation here. They have set the market price for Branch which is clearly more than the Pats are willing to spend. Now they should low ball the Pats and force them to either give him away or deal with an unhappy player who might not even play for the year.

Let the Seahawks have him, give up valuable picks and cripple their Cap on a 5'9" injury waiting to happen.

That's exactly what I'm saying. It makes some sense. Mangini has been watching BB/Pioli for years.

Branch is an excellent WR, that should not be debated. The small Wrs are all the rage in the NFL these day, his size is not an issue.

You are correct. Look at Steve Smith and Santana Moss.

I'm with you. Interesting theory but too Oliver Stone-ish for me.

No, if we're in it, we've got to be doing this ernestly. But Tannenbaum is way to shrewd to get fleeced. It didn't hurt to inquire of the Patriots, but I doubt this deal gets done for the kind of numbers we're hearing about.

The sleasebags, does that team happen to have a cap by any chance. First that monstrous contract they gave to peterson, then the contract they gave to burleson, wtf ??

And look at Pennington and Santana Moss. Santana struggled here.

You mean the Seahawks? I agree when does it stop? But what goes unnoticed here is the fact that they lost one of their best players from their Super Bowl run last season, LG Steve Hutchinson.

hehe nice, my guess is the pats won't pay him and they'll just have a discontent wr for the rest of the year.

The illegal contact rule wasn't enforced as strictly then...that's given the small wideouts the chance to use their speed in the short passing game as well as the deep passing game.

Why does it have to be done by 4:00? Is there some league rule or is it some ficitional time the Pats put forth? Just curious...

I'm saying his size is an issue if we're not talking crisp delivery. Of course, if Clemens were to step in and take over for Penny for whatever reason this year, now we're talking a whole other ball game. Clemens to Branch is something I'd seriously like to see.

And then BOOM,he's franchised for next year and then branch is back in the same spot--I doubt branch is willing to sit our for two of his young years.

Santana struggled? he had 10 TD catches in 2001(?) and didn't even start every game...
