Good, as in way below average, right? Rams offense is #24 in average yards per game, #27 in scoring (Jets, with their ineptitudes, still score 3 points more by average.), features -6 in turnover differentials, and sack rate of whopping 7.1%. He is projected to get sacked 42 times this year for the total. We've all seen the show throughout his Jets days. It's nothing new in Brian's agenda. (If your QB is eating the turf with higher probability than 5%, you know he's in for a long day in any game.) Good offense? Good riddance, junc. Good riddance.
more meaningless anecdotal arguments. because he has has better offensive playoff performances than previous Jets offense does not equate to him being a good coordinator. compare his offenses performances against league averages, not just Jets performances. does his success rate with great performances, good performances, average performances, or bad performances? I think you are deliberately avoiding doing so.
They have an average OL, a good, older RB and limited WRs(Amendola the only good one and he missed a bunch of games). I really like Bradford, by next year you will see a huge lap in their O.
How is what I posted meaningless? on the contrary it is very meaningful. You can't judge him w/o knowing what circumstances he had to deal with. I was just showing you that despite a supposed bad QB his postseason O's have done better than supposedly much better ones in the past. He's not the reason we folded last year, he's a good OC- not great but good. I can compare him to the league but he's been in different situations than most of the league so it's not fair.
He's not good. He gave up on the run when they were pounding the jets and then late in the game instead of throwing deep he was dinking and dunking.
no, you actually have to compare him to the rest of the league because he may be the difference between those situations. doing so is not just fair, it is honest.
I disagree, I don't think most had to deal w/ the circumstances he had to deal with and I think overall despite those issues he did a good job.
so you think our D didn't play a role in dinking and dunking? we had a big lead, the D we played was designed to keep the Rams in front of the, allow them to take time off the clock.
schotty called a terrible game against the jets this past sunday why would you possibly try to defend schotty's gameplan against the jets? he called a pretty lousy game and really played into the defenses hands. 44 pass attempts (23 completions) with jackson running at 6.2 yds per carry... (the other guy was at 4.3) really glad we dont have to deal with that shit anymore... im not saying sparano is so great, but its his first year with a team that has dealt with a lot of injuries. so far his system has shown a lot of good. a lot of bad, but a lot of good as well.
outside of a play here and there did you not see us slow down their run? on their TD drive they passed it 8 times and ran it 5 times. going into the last drive of the 1st half where they had to throw it was 15 passes to 12 runs. What is outrageous about that? you guys are just making stuff up again.
The problem is, you never go away from what you are doing best. We were getting run on by Jackson all game long up until that point. On 3rd and 1, you don't go for a big pass play - He always kills drives. Yesterday was no difference. When you see the Patriots or Packers play, you will see that they continue to attack the teams' weakness until they can prove they can stop it. I think Sparano is learning that lesson as he goes along. That already makes him a better OC.
Actually, New England almost blew the week 7 game by trying to force the run even while it was painfully clear that the Jets had no answer for Gronkowski/Hernandez. But that's neither here nor there.
theyd get like 8-9 yards, next play get stuffed, incomplete pass... like a million times in that game. the thing is, getting stuffed on one down doesnt mean that the next down a run isnt going to work, especially when its 1 or 2 yards to the marker. the d played well against the run in flashes, but they were much more consistent at running than passing against the d, yet they kept going to the same short routes that our defense adjusted to... you say that our defense had something to do with the offense schotty called. but those dink and dunk plays are the same ones that were getting them first downs early in the game... schotty sucks
no we weren't. Outisde of the first drive and a garbage time run he wasn't running all over us. Let's look at their drives: first play ran for 11 yds then ran for 5, 2, 4, 4. ran for 26 yds, they passed for 60. Next drive: started off w/ 3 yd run, completed short pass but had penalty so it was 2nd and 12. had to throw 2nd and 3rd downs. next drive: ran first 3 plays, passed on 3rd and 4 incomplete. next drive: ran first 2 plays, first for 21, next for 2. 2nd and 8 they passed and Mo stripped Bradford. next drive: 1st down pass set up 2nd and 3, lose 1 yd w/ jackson on 2nd down- have to pass on 3rd down. next drive: last drive of half, have to pass, pass 3 times. 2nd half(trailing 13-7): pass for 2, run 7, pass for 1st down. 2nd and 3 run for 1 setting up passing down. next drive: pass no gain, run for -4, set up 3rd and 14. next drive(trailing 20-7) pass, pass, run(got 1st down), run(fumble) from 27-7 down they ran it once and dropped back to pass 23 times which is where the game discrepancy comes from. at no point when they were close did they abandon the run.
runs of 6 yds or more and next play: 11 yd run, next play: 5 yd run 11 yd run, next play: 5 yd run 21 yd run, next play: 2 yd run 7 yd run, next play: 9 yd pass 6 yd run, next play: 2 yd run(fumble) 20 yd run, next play: false start then incomplete pass but this was after we made it 27-7 so they had to pass anyway. so where are these examples of 8-9 yd runs followed up by incomplete passess?
i found this quote hilariously disturbing. how an oc doesnt communicate with one of his most explosive weapons is beyond me ... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/17893/no-revenge-for-schotty
Maybe Mcknight would have gotten to play more on offense if he tried talking to his coach. That makes him look like just as much of a problem as Schotty
Which was very uncharacteristic of them. You would think they would keep throwing to Gronk until we go absolutely mad. He was a pain in the ass enough when we played him. They were getting positive yards though. 5 yards, 4 yards is easily a success. Stephen Jackson should of had at least 20 carries that game. He was running hard. That 3rd and 1 in particular where they went 5 wide, no point in doing that - you have to get a new set of downs and live to fight another down. That play I believe was when the game wasn't decided.
Schotty's problem is identity. He can't keep one for some reason and wants to be one step ahead. When it works it's wondrous, but when it doesn't it's terrible. It's an inconsistent offense that could look great with a great QB. But great QBs don't come on trees so he needs to make an offense more accesible to a not a great QB. I think STL will be a good fit for him and the change of scenery was needed for him and the Jets
