Quinn's dating Alicia Sacramone(I posted her pic up :D)

Quinn's sister however is married to a ex long haired Buckeye though, but its AJ Hawk.

He also got in a fight with a Browns teammate over something stupid. He had a humbling moment in CLE and while I may not have agreed with how he spoke down to Tebow not too long ago, Quinn was right that the Denver D really were the unsung heroes in the Broncos 2011 year. I still think Quinn can be serviceable. He had shown some bright spots like his match vs Matt Stafford(Though the Lions D was a joke) where Stafford just out-dueled Quinn in 2009.

However, Mangini had no idea how to develop a QB. Whether it was with Clemens, Ratliff, McCoy or Quinn, Mangini relied upon and needed a veteran QB(Anderson/Favre/Pennington/Delhomme) as he never had the patience in raising a young QB to his liking. McCoy was sort of forced onto him as he was trying to save his job rather than run with a rookie. That was always Mangini's downfall and arguably why(Along with coaches holding him ratting out his mentor) he isn't interviewed for an head coaching job in the NFL. Anderson lived off a fluke 2008 year where Jamal Lewis ran his last legs out, Kellen Winslow was a stud when given the ball and of course Braylon Edwards went absolutely berserk that year.

Cleveland people loved Quinn because he brought them Peyton Hillis in a trade courtesy of McDaniels. However, Hillis signed with the Chiefs so that's meaningless now.

Since Romeo Crenell was the man who drafted Quinn and really wanted to give him a chance IF he had more of a leash on his job, I do think at the end of the day Quinn signs on as Matt Cassell's backup in KC and we're left with Stanton. However, never say never. :)

Exactly.. Why spend for another guy who will never see the field when we already have 3 stiffs that can fill that role easily.

The NFL is all about timing, the team you play for and injuries.

Quinn was unlucky on all accounts.

He has less than 2000 yds in 5 years with a 10-9 record.

Quinn should have been drafted by the Dolphins, but Cam Cameron wanted Ted Ginn, I laughed my ass off when they drafted Ginn.

The Browns drafted Joe Thomas very early then added Quinn at #22 in Rd 1.

Mangini screwed up the Brady Quinn situation.

If Sanchez went down, Quinn would be a viable back-up.

This was the same draft we drafted Revis.

Wayne Hunter is probably starting at RT for the Jets.

Which does not bode well for anyone unfortunate enough to be playing QB when Hunter is on the field. Why pay extra when we already have meat for the grinder in the form of several sacrificial lambs waiting to be slaughtered already on the roster?

That's one way to look at it. If we end up going with McElroy as the backup I'd understand the reasoning, after Sanchez got the deal you knew we weren't not going to get a top tier backup

On the other hand, it'd be nice to have somebody who can play a little maybe a game or two in spot duty. Besides, is Brady Quinn more than a 1 year 1-1.3 million dollar deal type of guy? That's more or less the minimum (minus a few hundred thousand) which is what it costs for a spot on the active roster anyway, no?

Brady Quinn won't preclude the Jets from signing anybody they have on their radar

I see the logic in this. If they can convince Quinn to come here for the vet minimum, I get it. If that mil or 2 can convince a higher tier FA to sign with us, then perhaps we may have made a mistake in Quinn. Having 1-2mil sitting around on the bench is a luxury. Can we afford it right now? Not really sure anymore as the Jets are no longer the #1 destination for FA's.

I doubt Quinn will preclude the Jets from signing anybody they want. Seems they're not trying for a big splash in free agency (they could have afforded to get one big contract but not much else) and waiting for the dust to settle. Gotta admit, these contracts are out of control right now (like they usually are, but these teams with 30-50 million in cap space gotta meet the floor).

Can't blame everything on Mangini. I really wanted him to do well in Cle since he played in ND and had that long painful hangout in the draft room. He just really sucked throwing the ball in Cle (Tebow bad) when he either started or came in as a backup.

I actually would like this move...... a guy on the bench with more upside than the average journeyman.

lets face it sanchez has been a pretty durable guy the past 2 years but he will eventually get injured and not be able to come back after the next series... we could use a backup who can actually play.

that said if we sign quinn i would not be terribly disappointed if sanchez fell off the couch and broke his wrist....

Why you would wish for our QB to get injured is beyond comprehension.

  20. Quinn would be a good # 2. He has starting experience in the AFC & will be fine with playing as a #2 with a #2 type salary.
