http://www.startribune.com/blogs/vikings/ According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune it Bollinger for Mosley.
I tried to find more info from a Vikings message board, but all I found was some crap about direct routes by boat to Greenland, how to prepare mutton, and some strange thread about "Those Saxon Sons of Bitches." I'll keep looking.
FWIW Kolodziej had moved ahead of Mosley on the depth chart and Mosley was probably going to get cut.
So we're going into the season with 2 and a 1/2 qb's?! (Glass Joe=1/2) That makes sense. Unless the plan is to play for Brady Quinn. Then it makes perfect sense.
Do you really expect all 3 QBs (sorry, 2 1/2) to get hurt? If Pennington gets hurt, they sign a 3rd stringer off the street. No biggie.
Here's the language in Minnesota's link: Vikings acquire former Badgers QB Last Update: 8/31/2006 6:07:41 PM Adam Doctolero KFAN dot com Before tonight's game the Vikings swung a deal for fourth-year quarterback Brooks Bollinger from the New York Jets. The deal sends second-year DT C.J. Mosley to the Jets in return for the former University of Wisconsin star. Bollinger was picked in the 6th round by the Jets in 2003 and did not see the field his rookie year. In 2004 he played in one game, throwing nine passes. However last year Bollinger got a shot as the starter in place of the injured Chad Pennington. He finished last year 150 of 266 for 1,558 yards and 7 TDs. Mosley was a fan favorite at defensive tackle after playing in seven games last year and recording 3 sacks in his limited time. A 6th round pick as well, Mosley had seen himself passed on the depth chart by Ross Kolodziej and Spencer Johnson, and was most likely going to be cut. The move also spells the end of the Mike McMahon era in Minnesota, an era that lasted all of three pre-season games. McMahon had been badly outplayed by rookie QB Tarvaris Jackson and privately had expressed his unhappiness about possibly not being the top backup to Brad Johnson. McMahon will not play in tonight's game vs. the Dallas Cowboys and will most likely be cut soon after the game. Coach Childress continues to bring in players he has a history with. Bollinger redshirted his freshman year at Wisconsin, which was the last year Childress was the offensive coordinator in Madison. The deal is pending both players passing their physicals
So whats the out look on Mosley is he an answer to our NT problem or is he another 3 technique tackle?
Bolly got short shrifted here.... I like that kid. Best of luck to him. Having said that, we HAD to do SOMETHING at NT.... I just don't know if this guy is the SOMETHING we needed to do.
