Great athlete WHEN he's on the field. His ankle seems to be a reoccurring issue. I'll pass for someone more durable.
And he still put up almost 700 yards, and 6 TDs in 7 starts (8 games) after that. At that rate, he'd get 1400 yds for the season with 12 TDs. I'll take that too.
Give me one example where other teams were trading for a guy and Tannenbaum swooped in at the least second and blew them away with an offer. I remember the Jets losing a few this way, but never winning one (a particular CB comes to mind).
So you'd rather pay for a guy who's best days are behind him then for one still in his prime? Don't see how that adds up.Your entitled to your opinion.
Im referring to where Tanny stayed quiet, did his homework, and then all of sudden you see the trade. Its not like he has traded for 20 already, but the Favre trade is a good example. I had not heard anything about Jenkins either until it actually happened. The SWOOPING part was used by the other user. Besides, anyone on the trading block attracts attention from various teams given that the player is a starting caliber.
I think the Jets could get him for the 17th pick & he is a # 1 WR. He may not be the fastest guy in the world but he is fast enough. He has great hands & is like a RB after the catch DB'S hate to face him.
I wouldn't be against this trade. It would definitely be an upgrade to our WR corps. I have a feeling he would maybe disappoint a little bit, statistically speaking. It really helps to play on the opposite everyone's new favorite receiver, Fitzgerald. My biggest complaint about Boldin would be that he is going to turn in Coles Ver. 2...you know, signing a 6 year deal and then wanting to renegotiate 1 year into the deal.
Yes Boldins toughness makes him likeable , but IMO hes one big hit away from serious injury. I really don't want to see another Jet in a wheelchair.
I don't know about that... this was a freak accident to his face... If it was like a leg thing, knee, ankle, etc... then 'd agree with you, but I don't think the injury he suffered has any impact on his performance.
I believe it was a fractured sinus membrane , which will give the recipient blinding headaches. The problem with this injury is that once you've had it once , like concussions , they are easier to re-injure. Not life threatening , but damn painfull.
You have a point. But it applies to every single player, even a punter. Every player is one hit away from serious injury. The fact that Boldin actually took that big career threatening hit just makes him that much more tough. His hamstring injury could be concern as hamstrings can come back easily in the future. I don't think that would be a deal breaker, rather a leverage in trade talks for us. Having said that, news is Boldin will not be traded.
On your first point about him having been greatly benefited by playing next to Fitzgerald for several seasons, sure, it has helped him. However, As I have already pointed out in this thread, the only year he ever played without Fitzgerald across the formation from him was his rookie season, and in that season, he had 101 catches for 1,377 yards and 8 touchdowns. (Along with a 13.6 ypc average) WOW. I'd say he did just fine without Fitzgerald, wouldn't you? On your second point that Boldin would be "Coles Ver. 2 . . . you know, signing a 6 year deal and then wanting to renegotiate 1 year into the deal", I agree I could see this happening myself, however, ONLY IF HE HAS A GREAT FIRST SEASON . . . I'll take the dominant first year of production from him and worry about him getting greedy later.
so, people think we should get a 9 million dollar receiver when we have a 29 cent qb to throw to him, am I understanding this right? The people here never cease to amaze.
Tell me something, Don. How, may I ask, do you KNOW the value of the QBs on our roster???? (Especially Ratliff and Ainge?) Obviously, they could all turn out to be shit. But how do you KNOW (or even have a high degree of confidence in predicting) how good or bad our current QBs will turn out to be??? (i.e. We KNOW that Boldin is a legitimate #1 receiver in the prime of his career . . . ) Your posts never cease to amaze . . .
