He was throwing a football in his front yard. He wasn't jet skiing. I'll quote Bowles: "It's no big deal."

Do you have any quote from anyone in the Jets organization showing they were "mad" or think he's crazy? Do you have any substantive evidence they did anything beyond calling him and telling hjm not to do it?

This is all so silly. These outlets just wanted more info on the fight which he refused to give. It's all nonsense.

Once again self destructo Smith proving to GM and Coach he is way out there and a defiant a**shole.

Bowles should take the kid gloves off (excuse the punching pun) and FINE this moron.

He is is never at the right place missing meetings, missing flights because he can't read his watch and now going against medical advice by risking infection in his driveway. No notes, no support for team mates at practice, jus all about HIM. SMH 3xs. His insecurities drive him to do dumbass things. Who cares if "he is ready to go play" . Please go prove how much you have improved from a rank 32 QB someplace else. This BS has to end. Go look for your maker Dr. Frankenstein-Idzik in Florida where you belong.

Bowles is under enough pressure...it's written all over his face. Richardson and now Smith. The Smith homers should be ashamed of themselves. Mevi$ and Marshall are better behaved players.

Please Mac, rid us of this trash and save you and TB future agita!!

This is such a lame excuse. He's still the QB of the NY Jets, get over it. I guess if he took a shit on his parking lot you'd be saying the same thing again. Why care? It's HIS parking lot after all. Face it, the guy is under a microscope. If you're Geno Smith, quarterback of the NY Jets, a guy who just got out of surgery from getting his jaw broken, the last thing you want to do is show up in front of your apartment half naked with eye black on your face and do any type of physical activity that could get you in trouble with a) your team and b) with the media. That's baiting the NY press, that's being a distraction, being selfish and immature. Stay the fuck away from the spotlight for once. It's totally distracting, he's making a mockery of the Jets, we're all over the news now thanks to him. Disappearing for a couple of weeks won't hurt you, stop being such a fucking distraction to the team. The guy should disappear and stop making it about himself. He has no business doing this crap, of course the press would show up there and harrass him, can you blame them? He's making dumb, selfish decisions and these are the things that are absolutely distracting, toxic for this team. We don't need this shit. His motive to me is to somehow stay relevant, he does not want to disappear and hand it all over to Fitz, the media attention, the job, he doesn't want to be forgotten about and probably hoping for Fitz to fall on his face. That's why he has to show his face and make sure people realize he's doing good, surgery is done, I'm already walking around, doing interviews, tossing a ball around outside, I got my eyeblack on, I'm ready to go, don't worry. Which I can understand that he might feel that way, nobody wants to lose their job and be forgotten about, but be a fucking professional and disappear, nobody cares about you right now, step aside, put the team first. This is Fitz' team, his time to shine, he's the QB of the Jets.

Okay. So we can all admit that he's not doing the wisest things he could be doing with this whole situation. However, in my opinion, this whole thing has gotten so painfully blown out of proportion.

This situation went from 0-100 real quick thanks to the media and us fans.

Don't blame the media, they're doing their job. Geno not making wise decisions is what gets him and this team in trouble. First him getting his jaw broken, and then he follows it up with this, just a few days later. Why does he have to be a distraction? He could have avoided this whole thing if he used his head every once in a while, if he put the team first. He doesn't, and we get hit with all this negative press because of it. Do you realize how annoying it is for Todd to keep answering these ridiculous questions? How embarrassing it must be for him to keep explaining the fuckups of our players? Sheldon, we get over Sheldon, then it's Geno getting his jaw broken, then it's Geno again being mocked in the media, and he has to talk about it at every single presser. We can't focus on football, there's always some BS going on off the field. Up until this IK situation Geno stayed out of the spotlight and everything went well. Of course it was offseason, but still, he wasn't being a putz.

Is it blown out of proportion? Of course, but this is NY, that's why it's a tough place to play for, no matter what the sport is. You either accept it or you move on and do something else, play for somebody else. The media is not going to change, ever. They want winners, and anybody who doesn't come off humble, anybody that thinks their shit don't smell, guys who disrespect other people, threaten to call the cops on reporters, anybody like that who can't deliver (playoffs, at least), is going to have a tough time here. He's not going to make it. If you're Joe Namath, you're sitting at your pool before the superbowl game, you guarantee a SB win and you DELIVER, not only deliver but you are the superbowl MVP as a QB, yeah, the media will spin it the other way around on you and kiss your feet for being a legend, the coolest guy to ever pull it off. That's the risk he took. Imagine what would have happened if he fell on his face and lost the SB for us, the media would have shredded him to pieces. And Geno? If you're some putz who can't throw a ball and the media sees you doing this stuff, being a distraction, you can be 110% sure they will mock you and ridicule you and the team. We don't need that. Geno is not a superbowl MVP, I think some people have missed this tiny part. If he were, nobody would have given a shit about him standing there half naked. In fact the media would have celebrated him, they would have taken this "nobody can stop this man from his mission of winning a 2nd straight superbowl MVP" angle. Being the QB of the Jets or Giants is not just what you do on the field, but also what you do off the field. You can pull this shit off in Cleveland and nobody is going to care. NY is a different animal.

Anyone bitching about this guy being on his front lawn, is private property, without a shirt on throwing a football around makes the Jets fan base look as bad as it does. I don't think I've ever seen anything so sad from either this fan base or the Knicks fan base, and that's impressive.

@DaBallhawk you can pretend like the "private property" thing is a lame excuse but in reality, it's the only reason we are even talking about it. Let's pretend the New York media had a shred of decency. We would have no pictures in this one even be a story.

Again you can rant and rave about how this is all on Geno but the reality of the situation is 1. Geno did absolutely nothing wrong by having his goddamn shirt off on his own front lawn and 2. we wouldn't even be talking about something that isn't a big deal at all if it wasn't for the New York media.

I could care less that he was shirtless on his own property. The problem stems from the fact that he was under doctor's orders not to engage in any physical activity yet.

Let me start with this. I am not anti geno, I actually prayed and hoped he has figured out how to play qb n the nfl and would have a great season this year. I don't think now he will get the chance to show it but let's discuss the idea tnat geno is a Nut...

This situation with him getting beat up by a teammate was the last straw for me in thinking something is wrong with this guy. Since the modern day media has anyone heard of any player forget about a qb getting beaten up this badly by a teammate? No you haven't, not to mention he's your qb who is held to a higher standard Were the pre requisites for playing qb is leadership, respect etc... This guy has none of that.. Can you images chad Pennington, vinny testeraverde, ken obrien any of them ever gotten beaten up over $600? No chance.. Prior to Brandon marshal statement today has any e come out in two weeks and said anything other than, geno half to blame or no comment? Why is that important? It gives you insight into how he's viewed on the team... Let's flash back to Richie incognito... When Jonathan Martin and the nfl when out of there way to paint this guy as a racist, bully, lunatic.. teammate after teammate on his current team and previous teams flooded support. Rebutted the story Jonathan Martin told and all claimed they were in shock these kind of things were being said.. Incognito was painted as the second coming of hitler and would have been easy for everyone to write him, but they didn't. Geno smith gets his jaw broken and everyone's reaction is Oh well... My long boring point is he's nutty and not well liked and isn't the answer for the jets at qb on or off the field he doesn't have it and his teammates could care less about him..

It's more important to him to post pics, claim he will return even though no one cares, play catch with a friend Then to take any responsibility for being a douchebag. Would any of you fuck a co worker out of 600 then be a dick about it? I'm sure you wouldn't and if your paycheck was 17,000 a week I'm sure you would be more inclined to do the right thing. This incident and the reaction to it is as telling as one of Genos many 3 turnover games.. Time to move on from him.

Exactly - He's not being a good soldier. Being shirtless with eye black doesn't bother me at all - It's the refusal to follow orders that bugs me.

There's a hint of defiance about Geno right now. He still has this idea that it's his team and his job, but he hasn't earned shit and hasn't behaved like a leader. Everything Geno does seems to be focused on what Geno wants. The hole he is in is only getting deeper and his chance of climbing out is getting smaller.

And fuck the media jackals for staking out his home in hopes of snapping an embarrassing photo. Great work douchers.

Just how many years ago where reports coming out about Big Ben that he wasn't liked in his locker room. They called him selfish and never would hang out with any of his teammates and so on. Now look at the respect they have for him. I don't think the dislike for Geno is off the field but what he done on the field. If it was off the field then Sheldon Richardson should be hated for what he has done off the field.
