You were right to post it. I don't think anybody has a problem with that. Just sharing some comments about Bill Simmons. The guy's schtick relies on incessantly regurgitating plotlines from a dozen movies and applying them to his limited knowledge of the sports he discusses. He's worthless. He's also a racist, but that's not my story to tell.
1. Nothing's more enjoyable than a young QB overreacting after a long touchdown pass, deliriously sprinting down the field, then awkwardly jumping into the celebration circle about 2.3 seconds after it had already started to settle down. Mark Sanchez had an awesome one last Sunday. He nailed it. Even the part where he almost tripped on the landing. I really like him. He's one of my 20 favorite Mexican-American QBs ever. ..................... I know I have never seen any veteran QB's like Brett Favre sprint downfield and join the celebration .... Brady would probably do it, but is to busy getting sucked off by BB after such a fabulous play
Whatever.....I just think after watching the first games (I know it's only the first game) and how the Jets and Pats Played that the Pats are favored by so much
They are favored at home by 4pts. You get 3 pts favorite just by being the hometeam in most scenarios.
Im pretty sure you have seen a few, just don't remember them. I see it every wk. Romo does it occasionally. Jeff Garcia went crazy everytime he did it. Aaron Rodgers does it almost everytime as well. There are a bunch of veteran QBs that sprint down the field on such long TD passes. Even on rushing TDs. They celebrate with the team and its success, not just personal success. Im too lazy to post youtube videos though but it happens every week and isn't unusual at all. It was great to see actually. It excites every fan and opponents hate it.
No no no. Even as a Jets Yankees and Knicks fan (probably Simmons' 3 least favorite teams) I still love reading his articles. To say he has ill-informed is ridiculous. He knows way more about sports than anyone on this board. To say he is a bandwagon fan is also ridiculous. He's loved sports since the day he was born (just read his articles). The references he makes in his articles are genius and hilarious. He is great at what he does, which is not writing legitimate sports articles, but to be entertaining. In general people on this board are extraordinarily closed minded. Anyone who writes a dissenting article about the Jets, no matter how legitimate the point is, or anyone who is associated with another team is always ripped on blindly before anyone even reads there points.
Simmons is great if you ask me. I think people are taking his comments a little too seriously. He knocks everyone in the league.
a ton of people are picking the jets...i don't like it! Why couldn't the Pats blow the Bills out 40-0? Ughhhhh
Rex Ryan just called you a pussy. the logic you'd carry with a Bills win would be: The Bills beat the Pats!!! There's no way they are losing two division games in a row!! Why Couldn't the Bills lose 40-0?? Ughhhhh
yawn. Is that last part a joke or something? I know there aren't many Mexican-American QB's, but I don't see how that fact instantly becomes funny. Also, the part about Rex Ryan coming out of the men's room, I mean c'mon please... Fart and Mexican jokes? If I wanted to hear those I'd go play poker with my neighbors, but for a journalist this was pretty weak.
I agree, didn't understand how that could be perceived as funny. Is he making fun of the fact that there has not been many QBs with Mexican blood?
...right about here, is where I inject a long needed,, hey Poeman! who is that chick in your avatar? .... she is rocking the latex suit.
I thought that at first too and then remembered that Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, Tom Flores, and Jim Plunkett are/were too. So, I am not sure if maybe he was serious. Oh, and Joe Kapp.
