How can Sanchez be so many people's favorite Jets QB of all time? I love the kid too, but he played 1 year, where he threw 12 Touchdowns and 20 Interceptions, costing the Jets a few wins by doing so. He played pretty well in the playoffs, which is why I guess he is on some lists, but it is way too early for him to me by favorite Jets QB of all time.

Just because people post here and call themselves Jet fans doesn't mean they have a serious pov.

How come no love for Lance Mehl at LB? What a hitter, covered ground great.

Mickey Shuler was far and away the Jets' best TE all time.

Yea some peoples point of views on their own opinion, in a completely opinionated thread, is just ridiculous.

Wow we have some similar players on our list, our TE, OL, DL, CB and S are all the same and not the popular picks either (except Revis of course) I was torn between Clifton and Mo. I just remember Mo being a bright light on some awful Jet teams.

Well, I'm only taking my players from players I have actually seen on the field LIVE instead of players I just saw old game tapes from or read about in books (Namath, Maynard, Klecko, etc.)

I am soon to be 22, so here is my list:

    QB - Chad Pennington/Vinny Testaverde
    RB - Curtis Martin
    FB - Richie Anderson
    WR - Wayne Chrebet
    TE - Dustin Keller
    OL - Brandon Moore

    DL - Shaun Ellis
    LB - Mo Lewis
    CB - Aaron Glenn
    S - Victor Green

    K - Mike Nugent
    P - Tom Tupa
    KR - Leon Washington
    PR - Santana Moss

HC - Herman Edwards (though with another big season Rex will take over)
OC - Paul Hackett (I mean, really? You can't win with whoever you choose if you've been around from 1995-present like me)
DC - Mike Pettine (via Rex Ryan, of course)
    STC - Mike Westhoff (Obviously)

    Cool!

I would have gone with Hasty a year ago but Revis is the real deal.

I've been watching the Jets regularly since 1984 which was their first year in New Jersey. I do recall watching them play at Shea Stadium but I was six when they played their final game there. Therefore, I did not experience Richard Todd as a fan. Ken O'Brien was the first Jets QB that I saw week in and week out.
I was not a big fan of him after November 1986. It's that simple with him.

I liked Pat Ryan but he was a backup.

Boomer Esiason was a good guy, but just an average QB with the Jets and didn't excite me. I hated Bubby Brister and didn't care for Frank Reich or Neil O'Donnell.

I liked Vinny Testaverde only in 1998. He pissed me off too often in 2000 and it only got worse after that.

I liked Chad Pennington from 2000-05 and in those six years he only played regularly in two of them. After the injuries in 2005, I was pretty much tired of him. Brett Favre was a one season mercenary.

So in the end with me, basically by default Mark Sanchez is my favorite Jets quarterback.

In my opinion, if you didn't experience the Namath years, as a Jets fan there just wasn't enough good QB play to have excited you.

When making these favorites lists, you will see some oddball selections. Look at me for example. I listed Bobby Houston as my all-time favorite Jets linebacker. I liked the way he played. I thought he gave a good effort, but wasn't the most talented linebacker on any of the Jets teams he played for.

Sometimes a favorite player might be the star quarterback and other times it might be the nondescript safety.

I am shocked you didn't put Rich Miano on your list.

OK, I'll bite. Not the best necessarily, but my favorite
QB- Chad Pennington (just for his toughness. hopefully Sanchez takes this one day)
RB- Curtis Martin (edges out McNeil. The consummate professional)
    FB- Richie Anderson
WR- Wayne Chrebet, even though Al Toon is a very, very close 2nd
    TE- Mickey Schuler
OL- Kevin Mawae, although I love Mangold, too
DL- Jeff Lageman (that's due more to my age)
LB- Lance Mehl, with Mo Lewis a close 2nd
CB- Revis Christ (Aaron Glenn was my favorite for years)
    S- Victor Green
K- Raul Allegre (just for his kick against the Fins to get us into the playoffs)
    P- Jay Feely
