    Wrong, wrong, WRONG!!!

Only MEvi$, his agent, some sports writers and clueless fans thought this to be true.

The Jets may have let him think it, but they wrote the contract to ensure it is a four to seven year deal. The only power Revis has is to hold out and not make any money, which will force the Jets to trade him or him to retire.

MEvi$ holding out makes the length of the contract longer and the average salary lower.

The Jets should make him honor his four year deal and let him know they will not even consider re-negotiating his contract until next year.

If he is stupid enough to hold out and the contract evolves into a seven year deal the Jets should trade him to another team for two 1st rounds and a conditional 2nd or 3rd. If no takers, hold onto his contract until he plays or desides to retire.

He will never be the greatest Jet ever, I believe in the whole person concept and he is an A$$ and is as far from a team leader as Holmes is.

The only current Jet player who could even has a shot to be considered toward the top is Mangold. He is the whole package as a player, leader and comunity figure.

Bottom line with Revis, he either needs to be paid and happy, or off the team.

He can still show up, get paid and dog it all season. That doesn't help us, or him.

Exactly. If the Bills were clueless for trading Jason Peters, who wasn't even the best at his position, why are Jets fans demanding a trade for Revis, who arguably is the best at his position?

No he isn't. Revis is a great corner because he is physical and gives a ton of effort, he isn't really a Deion type who just coasts on freakish speed and agility.
If Revis dogged it he wouldn't be a particularly good corner. However I doubt he would dog it this year it isn't in his best interest. I do think if he gets even a small injury he won't play, that is more what i would worry about, because it isn't in his interest to play hurt while looking for a new deal.

I hadn't thought of that. That isn't a comforting thought at all. I could see that happening too.

For anyone mental enough to think Revis is going to hold out (I can't believe I'm citing BR...):

The New York Jets face uncertainty with perhaps the most valuable player on their defense and one of the most valuable defensive players in football. With two years left on a four-year, $46 million deal, Darrelle Revis is unhappy with his contract situation.

The star corner received over $30 million in his first two years of the contract and got a deal averaging $11.5 million per year. This made him the highest-paid corner on a yearly basis once Nnamdi Asomugha's deal with Oakland expired.

But after seeing Cortland Finnegan and Brandon Carr sign deals averaging $10 million per year this offseason, it seems that the NFL's best cornerback is displeased with his contract.

At this point, we know about the fail-safe in Revis' contract. If he holds out of any mandatory workouts it will trigger a three-year extension to the current deal worth about $9 million.

That's card No. 1 that the Jets hold, and it's the biggest one. Not only will Revis be underpaid by NFL standards, but he won't be able to hit free agency until March 2016. The 26-year-old cornerback won't want that. One of his best chances of truly getting paid the way he feels he deserves is to play out his existing contract since the Jets agreed in the deal not to use the franchise tag on him.

Darrelle Revis is a HOF cornerback

His contract will be extended during this season or at the end of this season. Everyone involved in the bandaid deal of 2010 knew this and understood this from DAY 1.

Fortunately, Dick Semen-i, the prime instigator of the media rubbish pile about this is NOT involved in this process

Revis is an incredible talent, theres no question about that, but he's not a QB.

IMO, you don't break the bank on a guy who doesnt touch the ball on every series he's on the field.
    He's not a leader, he's a selfish player.

You offer him his worth, not a penny more.
Then when he refuses and wants to pull his bullshit, you trade him to the worst possible NFL team that is willing to do a Herschel Walker deal and parlay those picks into building a complete team that can compete for years to come.

Except everyone else knows the same thing, even the best corners don't get you Herschel Walker packages, they get you a mid-round pick, maybe a 2nd. Champ Bailey got a decent RB when he was the best corner in the league.
