First one was a drop by White on a crossing route (3rd down, 1st series). Second was when Sanchez tried to force one to White as his protection collapsed, but he was hit as he threw and it didn't reach the receiver. White also made a hash of a punt return that led directly to the blocked punt TD for Cincy.
Thanks. Saw the punt return and just shook my head. Hope that one doesn't prevent him from getting on the field some more.
Good point. I'm just kind of worried because we have something like 837 rookie WRs in camp it seems, and not that many snaps to go around. man I hate this new CBA.
Seriously guys, it's preseason! You know, the games that don't count where many key players will sit out (Tone, Pouha). Lets bring this conversation back to earth and put it into perspective that it's a televised scrimmage match, not a "game". With that being said I think we came away with mostly positive in my opinion. Sanchez: He looked...well, like Sanchez. Holding the ball too long and never throwing it away, clasic Sanchez. Tebow: I must say everything looked pretty good. Throwing the ball with velocity and actually on target. He did his thing when he had to scramble. RB unit: They looked ok, nothing to really take away from this game. Hill: His hands work. I mean they can grasp a ball. (though he did drop that one that hit him directly in the hands) Coples: I think we can all agree this was the bright spot in this matchup. Do I think he's Julius Peppers come again? Well, I think he's a very athletic kid that didn't look lazy, like we've heard so much talk about and that's a big +. He showed a good motor and awareness. Looked strong against the run. I just hope we can see some pass rush skills next week. WR core: Looked a bit shakey, but there again hard to tell this soon in an exhibition. O-line: What can you say?
I was very impressed by Coples. He played nearly the entire game and didn't seem to be slowing down or giving up at all (which is what critics say is his major flaw). Mcknight ran hard and made a good decision to let that kickoff go out of bounds. Tebow looked good for his first pre-season game in a new system.
Just ignore him like I do. He like the attention, plus he a lair. Everybody on here knows he doesn't have a woman.
Here's a positive, only injury was to Eric Smith and he limped off under his own power. Only preseason, not concerned, but Coples looked very good!
Saw the 1q again of the game, one thing that I like about Sanchez from yesterday, was that there were no penalties, hesitations going in or out of the huddle. Both his sacks, I think he was extremely mindful to not fumble or throw an I'll advised INT. I was maybe a bit too hard on him first time around, he delivered a very unspectacular but stabel impression. Hope he can build on that.
It is preseason and it was vanilla but I was looking at a few things ,,,,,,the off line STILL had Mark under preasure ,,,,we cannot have our Qbs getting sacked as much as last year ! It was a vanilla of fence for thevBengals as well but i did not see their Qbs getting harassed ! I wanted to see how our backup centers would play as that was a big hurt for us last year ,,,our WR , vanilla or not CANNOT get open,,,,,,,and although it was one play our LB s still cannot cover anyone out of the back field .
I thought Coples looked very impressive and truly played with a high motor . He was coming off his the ball quick and getting off his block . I think we are going to have to same problem we had last year in that our WR have no separation . I guess it will wind up falling and dooming Sanchez but it seemed like he was throwing into coverage last year. I can't tell if its play design or slow wideouts but it seems like there is never anyone open . I understand we didn't have Holmes and its the first game of the preseason but they need to figure this shit out quick . Have to find a way to score with really minimal big play threats.
I seen that Marvin Called Rex and said he didnt want to see the Wildcat tonight so out of respect Rex didnt unveil it.
Coples looked great against the backups, but the starting D-line got stonewalled every snap. Conversely, Mark was harassed nearly every time we snapped the ball. I'm just waiting for somebody to excuse this with, "well, Hunter was out" .
No way man they was doubling him alot enabling others to make the play. Coach him up nice and we have a playmaker in Coples
This is what bothered me the most about of that game. We got no penetration until their starters left the game. So much for that nonsense about Wilkerson being a beast. I didn't even notice him.
I am pretty much right where you are on this game. We are talking about the first preseason game which is more like a glorified scrimmage. Way to early to get excited or depressed. It's ok though we still have time for that before the season starts.
Offensive line needs major work, they allowed the 5th most sacks last season, and FO did nothing to sure this need up!!!
I agree 100% No protection and a below average WR unit is going to kill this team . Tanny needs to make a move before the real football starts . I cant see how anybody who watched last year can have any faith in this years line . Trying to not be all doom and gloom here I realize its the first preseason game and it means nothing . I do think the D will be top five and probably keep us in most games this year .
