ben graham is the man... puts crazy spin on the ball and is probably the toughest punter in the league
I love Graham, between his high net avg. and the difficulty in fielding his punts there is nothing not to like about this guy. We finally have some stability at the P position. I wonder if there is any thought by the new bosses to him doing Kickoffs?
If you also keep in mind that all Australian rules footballers are not trained to kick the ball for hangtime. These sorts of kicks are known as widow-makers and are an aberration when they do occur. Your new coach has said he's looking for team players! As a punter, my understanding was that Ben wasn't required to do the training with the rest of the Guys because ' He's only a punter'. He did it anyway. I think the Jets got this one right. Go Ben! Go Jets! Go Cats!
Better this... Than this.... So Ben Graham does the Hokey-Pokey for a living, so what. What a country! All kidding aside, he was a bright spot in a dismal season, and just a wonderful, wonderful surprise. Alas, the flip side to that is that your kicker shouldn't be your bright spot because he gets tons of punting practice during the game instead of at Hofstra. Yep. No worries - brighter times ahead.
Yes, all Aussie footballers are taught to do the Can Can from an early age. That way we have 2 career paths, Aussie Rules Football or the chorus line at the Moulin Rouge.
Ben Graham is a god amongst punters. How do I really feel about him? I own his jersey. Speaking of punters, does anyone remember Louie Aguiar? Worst punter EVER!
From my research i have found out that what makes Graham a good punter is the way he kicks the ball. Why doesnt other American punters just copy him to get the same spin on the ball? Here is some video's showing how a AFL player kicks the ball Drop Punt http://video.vividas.com/media/4190_Auskick/web/pu-drop.html Torpedo Punt http://video.vividas.com/media/4190_Auskick/web/pu-torpedo.html Banana Kick http://video.vividas.com/media/4190_Auskick/web/pu-banana.html Are these the way he kicks the ball in American Football or has he taken on a different style.
Every time a new Aussie joins the board this thread reappears. Its great. ykickamoocow was the name of a racehorse wasn't it? That Anthony Rocca torpedo punt must have travelled 80 yards.
Rocca is a great player. I still find it odd i found all these Australians and AFL talk on a American Football website.
Not a primetime position-but he is good at what he does and he wants to win every time hes on the field-tons of respect
