Ha. No, I'm through with that. The mods did and found his IP clean. I still smell something foul. Either way, it's just a poor fake id.

lol so back to kerry rhodes.... what do you guys think we could obtain from chicago for kerry. I know hes not a favorite here but he is viewed as one of the most talented safetys especially cover safetys. Would a second round be out of question or a 3rd and a 5th.

    I'm pretty sure Chicago doesn't have a 1st or 2nd. A 3rd and 4th would do it for me.

    1) Jerry Hughes
    2) Dominique Franks
    3) Morgan Burnett
    4) Jordan Shipley
    5) BPA OL/DL

Would be a pretty sick draft.

Well before we even talk about trading Rhodes.

Can we even get Rolle ?

Final 8 teams are only able to sign new players for 5.5million (or something like that not sure of the exact number) first year salary, would that be enough to bag him/compete for him ?

I mean all a team has to do is just offer him a tiny bit more than that and we are instantly out of the competition. Unless we offered him some kinda long term contract with tons of bonuses/incentives. In which case i have no idea how that works for the final 8.

Dont even know if any of this applies to guys that were cut either.

Rolle is unaffected by F8P. He's a released free agent.

And anyone who thinks Chicago is gonna give up 2 draft picks for Rhodes is insane.

That team has gaping holes ALL over the place, has tons of injury/depth problems, and has traded away their future on Cutler.

To see them give up 2 draft picks for one pretty good guy while theyre already stretched so thin would be one of the stupidest things they could do.

Well I knew that he is unaffected by the having to lose a player thing because he was cut and therefore isnt a UFA.

But the final 8 rules had a part about signing players for over 5 million (or 5.5 ) or something. And I havent seen many people go into that.

I'd be down for trading Rhodes for draft picks. Pursuing Antrelle Rolle should be a priority if he is cut, and gaining draft picks from a Rhodes trade would be crucial considering how few picks we have this year. However, it is unlikely anyone trades for Rhodes with his name being mentioned as a potential cut so it might be wishful thinking.

You put Rhodes out there i absolutely guarantee youll get plenty of offers. Maybe not a 2nd rounder, but if his name goes out there for a 3rd rounder teams would grab him up fast.No way Jets would cut him that would be insane. Even if we did get Rolle, Rhodes has way too much value to cut.

Especially since the nfl is all about passing, and this guys a very good safety.

Teams 5-8 get one exemption to the rule, a single player they can sign to a contract up to 5.5 million without that player having to match a departed UFA's contract. All of the rules, including that one, only apply to UFAs.

    Surprised nobody brought this up.

But what about the thought of bringing in Rolle and having him play cornerback ?

The guy was an all american corner in college, 2nd cornerback of the draft (8th overall), and he only recently converted to safety in 2008.

And since this guy plays both positions that gives us some serious flexibility. Could use him in a Charles Woodson esque manner switching him around. And if Rhodes ever got hurt allows you to move him around.

Just the thought of Revis, Rolle, Rhodes, Leonard as our secondary is just scary. And having Fabian Washington (who im strongly hoping we pick up) as our #3 corner I think even Peyton manning would have a hard time throwing on that.

It's been brought up. He was terrible at corner at this level, hence the move to S.

I actually do think that Rhodes isn't nearly as bad as people give him credit for, but I just do not think he fits Rex and Pettine's system and style of defense.

Maybe "fitting into the system" isn't the right phrase to use, because one of the great things about this system is the ability to put certain players in a position to succeed utilizing their best skills.

So instead of saying Rhodes doesn't fit in the Jets system, I will say he doesn't fit Rex's playing style of a physical smash mouth and intimidating defense.

That being said I would definitely deal him for a 3rd round pick, he may excel elsewhere...but I believe it would be worth it, especially in this deep draft.

    Dude.. Seriously?

You clearly seen what they did for that scrub, Cutler. That was just crazy stupid. Nobody else would've ever gave that much for, Cutler. Period.

If they are dumb enough to spend that much for that D-Bag (knowing this draft was going to be stacked), what makes you so sure they wouldn't do something of this nature for, Rhodes?

Cutler had a good 10-12 years left in his career when the Bears traded for him.

And a Franchise QB was something they DESPERATELY needed. If they had that QB a few years earlier they probably would have won at least 2 superbowls. Trades for a young franchise qb of Cutlers potential dont happen often, which is why it was so lobsided. I mean if Cutler landed in the right system this is a guy who could be one of the best in the league. (hes got NO oline, no wrs, no ground game in chicago)

Plus because they gave up so much in that trade, they cant afford to do it again, especially now that they have so many holes to fill.

Obv any of us would LOVE to get 2 draft picks for Rhodes, but no way is it happening. (unless were talking like a 5th and a 7th or something)

I went to their board and they feel they have 3 actual major holes:

    FS
    DE
    G/C

They believe they are getting/going hard after Peppers and/or Kampman
They plan on getting a safety be it Rolle, Sharper (who is supposedly going there for a visit and said on the radio he would love to play there), or Rhodes. I don't believe they want to trade any of their picks and would only get Rhodes if he is let go. They plan on essentially making free agency their draft.

Oh snap. Now there is word that Greg Olsen may seriously be on the block because Mike Martz mainly uses TEs just to block and he doesn't really fit. The two main teams who want him are the Cardinals and the..... PATRIOTS.

The Pats would be giving up a 2nd rounder for him.

And with the talent in this draft theres guys id be alot more afraid of them drafting in the 2nd than picking up Olsen.

Well they got, what, 3 2nd round picks? Supposedly, they are going to take a TE anyway and Olsen is a better pass catching TE than anyone else in the draft. He could possibly make up for Welker on the inside since they may struggle finding a replacement slot receiver. He would be lethal with Moss on the outside. I doubt it goes down though.

  20. Good news: I won't. I guess what surprises me most is all the rancor my silliness generated. Oh well. Cheers.
