If they worked this hard to bring in a starting calibre RB, they know more than they are telling about Martin. My gut tells me that when final cuts come around, Martin will be going in the IR. A truly shitty way for one of the best Jets ever to go out, but it almost seems inevitable. Anyone else feeling this way?

Hey GM, I was only messing with you about the DP man.

fenwyr, I don't think they are slighting Martin at all. If you look at the other thread about him being renegotiated, it looks like the Jets are trying to treat him as well as they can afford to.

The truth is, it's time to move on. I hate it, but that's the truth. Martin may never see the turf again.

Hadn't hit the renegotiation thread yet, but I wasn't implying the FO was slighting him. In fact, putting him on IR is rather than cutting him is the lesser of two evils. Martin may have another year or two in him, but 2006 is not going to be it. I would rather see him on the IR, allow him to rehab and work out for a year, and if he can still move his knee bring him back in a supporting role for 1-2 years allowing him to retire much like the Bus (i.e. after we win the Superbowl :) )

Believe me, I would love to see that. There aren't many Jets fans that wouldn't, if any. However, he has no cartilege in his knee. I can't even imagine the pain he must feel walking, much less running.
