We have to keep Chris Baker because there is no need for us to essentially waste a first round pick on a TE.

    Bring him back!

Baker is a solid player who never really got a chance to show his stuff.

Not really mentioned here is that Baker would most likely be a whole lot cheaper than Putz. Baker lost a boatload of money when he got hurt last year IMO. Now, hopefully, we benefit from that with a value guy that is worth more than what we will have to pay him. (Sorry, but I don't get all gushy about a guy who is about to bring down 1.5 mil or so instead of an even three)

I'd like to pick up Leonard Pope from UGA, if he slips to round 2. But I doubt he will....

I agree 100%, Baker can be a very good TE, Jets just need to throw to him on a consistent basis. they need to release doug jolley and give jolley's money to baker

I would wait til draft or after draft to address the TE situation.

Baker was hurt last yr and isnt really getting FA attention. So he might be FA still after the draft. He isnt much better than Jolley so thats why I would wait than waste an extra mil a yr on a marginal starting TE.

But this draft has great options:
Vernon Davis I like but I dont see us drafting a TE early.
    M. Lewis probably wont last to our 2nd rnd pick.
Klopfenstien(spelling is the player I want I dont know if he will still be there in the 3rd rnd.)
    A. Fasano is also another great option in rnd2 and 3.
and Bryd could be a good fit as well.
I might be missing some good names.

Baker is a better blocker than any of those TE's with the exception of Fasano. I am not ready to throw my hands up on Jolley just yet.... he's a one dimensional TE, but and I swear I'm being honest here.... Jolley had the softest, most reliable hands on the entire team last year in training camp. What happened to him, until the second Miami game, I can't explain.

Another guy that displayed great hands in TC was that Gessler kid.... but in the preseason games, he looked like he had no fingers. (yes, I went to a lot of last year's TC's)
