Once you get into EM's doghouse, you never get out. Ask J-mil., Pro-bowl center Kevin Mawae, Vilma, and others. Either EM goes or we can forget about DK. Hopefully fats hasn't harmed him psychologically beyond repair.
This is one thing that has baffled me since Tennessee. Keller was playing so well that other teams had to start accounting for him. That should have opened the field for Cotchery and Coles. And yet, we hardly see him anymore. I know the NFL defenses are more complicated than it appears. But, I think you have to design your routes around your threats. Keller was making a living working the middle of the field. So why doesn't Mangini and Shotty have him drawing coverages to middle and using Coles and Cotchery on dig routes, comebacks, and skinny posts? Why don't they put Keller on seam routes and run Washington or Jones underneath as Keller clears out the area? With Keller's speed why don't they flank him out to one side and move Coles in motion or use him in the slot? Or have Jerricho and Laverneaus run crossing routes, while Keller draws the attention deep? Where's one flea flicker after we'd established the run? Where's the 2 WR, 1 TE set strong side left. Play action roll out right and hitting Keller on a 6 or 8 drag route after the misdirection?
I look at this as good news about Keller missing the past few weeks. Its the same old story ---- this moronic coaching staff never adjusts its game plan strategy to counteract the opposing defense. They've been keying on Keller and Shitheadheimer and Mandoofus blame him instead of doing something to change it. I was more worried that Keller might be regressing into a 1st round bust.
This is the problem with having a 35 yo coach. Coles wouldn't get away with anything from a Parcells/BB/Cowher type of a coach.
