There's so many bad teams in the league this year stats are pretty meaningless...my eyes tell my this defense is mediocre at best...no pass rush weak corners...meh.

Poor play. Couldn't defend well against a team that was sharp with it's passing attack. Poor work by the offensive line. Every time they had a big gain it was called back. Receivers couldn't get open and the QB was under pressure all day. Poor field position made it hard to get anything going. Sometimes a team plays lousy.

To be fair, I've been impressed with our corner play prior to today's game with Maulet and Bless in the lineup. I know Maulet had a rough game today, then was hurt, I'm curious on the numbers from, Bless. I didn't notice too many bad things from him again. They both lack experience, so I'm okay with seeing some growing pains, but I'm hopeful they can be solid contributors moving forward for us. We shall see.

In all fairness Gase is a lot brighter, nicer and more accomplished. But yes there are similarities in the insecure narcissistic giant ego type personality.

Agreed. I didn't see too many targets or catches at Bless Austin. Maulet got absolutely abused but he's playing out of position. He's really a slot corner playing on the outside. He wasn't in bad position he was just getting out jumped by Tate (6'5"), Tyler Boyd (6'2") and the two tightends as a 5'9" corner.

The Bengals isolated him a lot and attacked him for that reason. The cover 2 is great at covering the short game and deep balls. Where the coverage gets abused is on the intermediate range if your corners aren't getting enough depth and then over the middle. Your safeties also need to make plays on the ball to effectively play a cover 2 and they didn't yesterday. Probably because neither are that good at doing so.

Tough day for the whole secondary.
