Why do people conflate a piece of fabric with the performance of a football team thirty years ago? One has nothing to do with the other. The Jets did not play poorly back in the 80s because of their uniforms and helmet. Besides, it's not like the Jets were THAT bad back then. You do remember the NY Sack Exchange, right? Probably the best run we've had in Jets history?
I never liked the 80 uniforms, I was so happy when Parcells came in and put us back in the old uniforms but I would love to see the 80's uniforms once a year for old times sake. I don't relate to the Titan uniforms at all
The rumor is that since NIKE "didn't have enough time" this off-season, that's why many teams are not wearing throwback uniforms this season. Come 2013, more teams will have throwbacks restored (Jets may or may not choose the 80s/90s uniforms over the Titans of NY) and other teams may change their designs completely or add unique alternates, like the Oregon Ducks.

Yup. I tried to get someone to start a thread asking how long we, as posters, have been a JETS fan. Don't have enough to do it myself. Some of the comments people leave on here tend to make me think they are fairly new to this team and don't remember the shit they produced while wearing those ugly 80's unis. LOVE our current and LOVE the Titans throwbacks. And, by the way, I have never understood all the love fo SD's powder blues. Absolutely horrid.

I don't know, at least we don't have those neckroll collars that many teams are wearing so it could be worse.
I will be wearing my Gastineau throwback on Sunday since the Pats are wearing throwbacks and we aren't.
The new Nikes are absolutely hideous. I understand that every team has the two tone thing going on, but I think the Jets olive green looks the absolute worst. We look like teletubby army men out there. Awful. Almost makes me want to consider a brand new uniform, a la Seattle.
