Three years of sandwiching Faneca (no sexual inuendos intended) would make Brick and Mangold battle-tested savvy 5-yr veterans...who could impart their knowledge on younger offensive line mates.
I've gone back and forth on Faneca a lot, because he's exactly the kind of free-agent (late-prime) that tends to fall flat on his new team, but I think you're right. Signing Faneca is not just taking the aging vet chance, it's also giving D'Brick his best possible chance to develop into the good tackle we hope he'll be. I'd see if Faneca is willing to go for a front-loaded 4 year deal (3's not going to get him here) that uses up extra cap space next season and goes light in years 3 and 4 of the deal.
