Yeah - because 30 is way worse than the 53 our swiss cheese offensive line allowed in 2007. Don't blame the offensive line on Favre's interceptions. It's not their fault that he threw an INT in every game but three. Brett Favre sucked miserably in all of the Jets' losses...and it had nothing to do with pass-pro.
Electric is one of the board's elite prospect evaluators and the masses are trying to tell him otherwise??? I'm with him on Freeman being raw - stop thinking that his shiny cannon arm is an answer to everything else. He lacks a lot, including footwork. What did Bill Walsh focus on with Montana and Young??.... Footwork. Freeman has a long way to go. He's not an NFL ready guy.
Great for him, but he is still human and prone to errors like anyone. At the end of the day no one knows until they suit up and play. But Mr. Electric's Idea of QB is off. He doesn't have to like any of the QBs in this draft. He can feel that we need to go in another direction. But in the end that is his Opinion He is entitled to his as much as we are entitled to our own
...not you again. What exactly is my "Idea of QB" ? ...because I don't want the Jets to draft Josh Freeman, I'm off? As you can see in my avatar, I like Mark Sanchez. If he's gone at 17, I do feel like we should go in another direction - hopefully Utah defensive back Sean Smith. Everything I say is just my opinion, but my opinion is much, much more valued than your's. This right here shows why you have no business in the draft forum - Matt Ryan became BC's starter as a junior. Ryan went 25-7 as a starter for the Golden Eagles. Every single one of your posts is a joke
Damn did I sleep with your wife or something If those in here want to value your opinion over mine Fine, that is there business. I hold no ill will towards those who do Freeman is an option Never said I was in love with him, but considering our situation and looking that some had him going as high as 22 I guess with the Vikings, I thought why not look at the guy at 17. I'm not happy at all about our QB situation and that is where that came from. Before I even heard of Freeman, I was thinking defense and probably somewhere along the front 7. I believe we need more pressure on the QB. But also considering New Coaches like to have their own guys, and considering our situation with QB, I thought why not Freeman. As a matter of fact, the guy who runs draft countdown Scott Wright was at the Senior Bowl felt the Jets should really look at him. It is on ITunes called DraftCountdown. You can check it out yourself.
Scott Wright is a no talent ass clown. I've seen his website, and it's a waste of time - especially as a Jets fan. He's had us drafting Tyson Jackson in every one of his mock drafts...el terrible. Last time I checked, the top QBs are juniors. Any team in need of a quarterback should look at the underclassmen crop this year - the seniors are god awful.
its how the opinion or argument is presented... we don't voice inflections and physical presentation to sell a point of view. its all text. And Scott Wright is a joke... it took me 3 years to figure that out. His advertisements are fucking annoying on his site too.
1)Small school was a reference to their weak schedule as a comparison. Stop trying to prove you are smarter than everyone, you sound juvenile. Try working on your self esteem with a therapist or something, maybe Transendental or Buddhist meditation. 2) No similarities besides height and arm strength? Wait until after the combine, their names will be made in the same sentence every day. You know what people forget about Flacco?, he was far and away the most fluid and best all around athlete of the QB's last year. You can tell this kid is an athlete and a beast physically. The more I look at him, he actually reminds me of Derek Anderson, because of the accuracy problem. I wouldn't use #17 on him yet, I need to see more. I agree with you on Sanchez, but he'll be gone by 17. Frisco or Seattle would be crazy not to take him, if Minn. doesn't move up to take him they are nuts. I expect Minn to trade up with San Diego to get him if he is around. Detroit has a ton of picks as well. Their best move would to be take a OT with the first pick, then trade up and get either Sanchez or the Georgia kid around 10-12 if they are there. They have the pics to do it.
I don't think freeman is the answer either. I would like to have Clemens and Ratliff battle it out this year and if it doesn't work then go after Bradford or McCoy in 2010. They both are better pro prospects than this year's QB's.
1. A weak, I-A non-conference schedule has nothing in common with a I-AA schedule. 2. Who will be creating those sentences comparing the two? Guys like you - people that can't see past the arm strength and height similarities. Freeman played is a completely different offense, he's way less accurate, and he's a much better runner. Derek Anderson was a 6th round pick - because of poor technique and bad accuracy. Freeman's ceiling is higher, but he's not ready for the NFL - he declared early because Bill Snyder came back to K-State and he's going to run the spread option again. Freeman was going to have to compete for the starting job... The Jets have plenty of picks - who says they won't move up a few spots to draft Mark Sanchez? If Minnesota can do it, why can't New York?
1) We agree to disagree. Talent is talent to me especially at QB and RB. 2)Guys like me? No. Guys with much higher cred than you or me. I don't think Freeman is a much better runner than Flacco, this is meant as a compliment to Flacco. Flacco is a high end athlete, period. I think Minnesota's need at QB is higher than ours, they would take Clemens over Jackson now. I heard they threw a fit when we drafted him.
Gotta agree with the talent is talent It can't be taught The reason we finally let Chad go was because of his lack of talent The reason we weren't concerned about trading him within the division is because of the same thing
we didn't trade him in the division, we cut him. We let Chad go because the constant QB competition stuff, in my opinion, wears on a team and the Jets saw an opportunity to solidify the QB position. Then he tore his bicep, mangini threw the ball with that bicep twice as much as he ran the ball, and Favre kept throwing picks.... 9-7.
Yeah - there's a reason why certain players end up at big time I-A school or small I-AA schools. That reason is talent level.
Todd McShay, who I like more than Kiper...but that's not saying much, is comparing Freeman to JaMarcus Russell - a big, strong armed QB with poor intangibles and footwork. Russell is a much better comparison than Joe Flacco.
He has some arm strength but nota great arm. He has good size but not a Big Ben. He could be a NFL QB but not for us. Drafting him in the fifth round would be stupid since we Drafted Aigne last year in the 5th. Eric has the size, arm and a lot more starting experience in college. I would rather give Aigne a shot than draft a mid round QB. Most of all I want Brett Ratliff as our starter with Aigne as #2 and Kellen somewhere else.
Do you have any idea what you're talking about? I don't want Freeman to be a Jet, but he's bigger than Roethlisberger, he could have the strongest arm in the draft, and he's not a "mid-round" QB. JF will get picked in the mid-to-late first based on his potential.
Maybe I gotta get to know you a little better I was thinking the same, but I try not to say it like that
Not really. The reason is development at the age of 18. Both physical and at one position. At 18 I was 5'10 165 at 21 I was 6'0 200. Same goes for alot of kids. The classic example in basketball is HOF David Robinson who entered college at 6'5-6'6 and left at 7'0. He went to Navy, not excatly a basketball hotbed.
