Well this guy would have to come in and learn the routes, terminology.etc etc. Would it really be that much of an upgrade given that?

Neither Boldin nor Farvre would know the routes. So it would provide a certain randomness to the offense which would be fun to watch.

Boldin had one of the strangest stat lines in NFL history in the Washington game last year.
    8 receptions
    29 yards
    2 touchdowns

The TDs covered 12 yards. His other 6 receptions were good for 17 whole yards.

Boldin is a top WR in the game...we'd be crazy to not *want* him....making it happen is a whole different thing.

But he's a top player at his position in his prime...thats well worth a first round pick honestly.

He's arguably more talented than any WR on the Jets' roster.

But his current demand for a trade makes him sound immature and like a malcontent - a la Coles, Baker. To this add his salary plus what we'd have to give up to get him, draft picks etc. No way we should give a trade for Anquan any serious consideration.

Boldin is talented and should be a huge addition to this new Brett Era. However to get him into the Green n white jersey will not be easy. As much as I like Coles he seems very injury prone at this point in his career so can say bye to him, as we said be to his good friend Chad (one of the best Jet qb's).
If we can get Boldin, and upgrade in the cb position I think we can push our playoff dreams a lil further.

I love threads like this one, but the reality is I don't know that Arizona would think Coles to be fair compensation for Boldin.

Of course the Jets could perhaps come up with a package deal. But again, while I would prefer to have Boldin, that still leaves open the question who the #3 wr will be, which imo is an even more pressing issue than whether the Jets should change out Coles for Boldin.

Coles for Boldin straight up, is obviously a one sided trade. I'm just tired of Coles, and his fuckin' whiney little bitch, ways. For me, he's more then worn out his welcome.
As far as worrying about the 3rd WR, i think your concern is placed in the wrong area. With the emergence of Clowney(hope he's back soon), and Stuckey, along with Smith and Wright, i think we've got the 3rd spot covered.
It's the true #1 reciever we're missing. Neither Coles nor Cotchery is a true #1 guy, IMO. Maybe Cotchery, with Favre at the helm will step up? We can only hope, because this teams problems are not at the #3 spot, it"s at #1!

glad you dont run the team.

its a big enough transition when your QB is learning his WR's routes and terminology. lets not get rid of our best WR (injury prone only cuz of pennys passes mind you) for a WR who has no idea what our offense is like, i dont care if its boldin.

boldin is one of the best in the league. but its just not a feasable option at this time. especially now were carrying favres cap.

Coles is not the best WR on the team. Cotchery is the best WR on the team.

Boldin is one of my favorite players in the league. He used to be my #1 favorite, but I am tiring of this contract act.
I like the way he plays the position. He is very physical and is good after the catch.
However, he is not better than Larry Fitzgerald.
I watch a lot of Cardinals game. In 2007, I saw 12 of them (either the entire game or most of it; there were 4 that I didn't bother with or only saw a few plays).
Anyway, Fitzgerald is the better WR. He gets the job done against all comers. Boldin is decidedly less effective against quality cornerbacks. Fitzgerald is a true #1 WR. Boldin is a true #2 receiver.

Boldin does not make any DB his bitch. He makes mediocre and shitty DBs his bitch.

Cotchery is a better WR than Boldin.
Fitzgerald is better than both of them.
Remember, this was written by a big Boldin fan.

Fitzy is the 3rd best receiver in the league man. There's no comparison to Boldin.

Boldin is a great WR, very physical. With that said, he won't become a Jet. The Jets just committed money to Coles and signed another WR. If the Jets were to go after a big name guy, I'd have to hope it was a defensive back.

Sheldon Brown to the Jets anyone?

The Jets have more pressing needs on the Defense, not to mention nothing to trade.

The "he'll be coming to a new offense" thing is BS...most teams run the same plays/same offenses right now...blame Bill Walsh but the modern NFL offense is systemized as hell...I would be more worried about a star defensive player coming over than a star offensive player.

If this discussion had taken place in April, I think it would have been much more interesting. Boldin could have learned the offense and gone through OTA's & summer camp. But adding a WR right before the season is not a smart idea.

If Coles or Cotchery went on IR, that would be a different matter. But adding a receiver now, even one as talented as Boldin (who's one of my favorite players in the NFL), is not a great idea.
