Well, Woody made Rex untouchable until the end of 2013 sooo, there's really no reason why Rex can't dance around the media while standing at a podium. I'm thinking the Organization is trying to get their talking points straight and stake out a position that doesn't make them seem so clownish.
He and the rest of the coaching will be fired once a new GM is hired. None of these guys are coming back. That is why Rex didn't fire Sparano - he doesn't have that authority. That is also why any talk about Rex coaching in 2013 being a condition for the new GM is BS. You don't hire placement firms and put those caveats in place for prospective GMs. Also Rex doesn't have any input on the new GM when he doesn't have the authority to fire any coaches.

That's definitely one way to look at it. Having Woody and Rex silent yesterday prevented them from saying things that would be proven false in a matter of days or a week at the outside. I still think Rex will be retained for next year but I could see it going the other way.
I can't believe the Jets didn't have the press conference and let Tebow take over for Tannenbaum and speak with Ryan. Tebow did everything asked of the Jets and has proven to be one of the best at press conferences in the NFL when he led the Broncos to the playoffs last year. The Jets are ruining Tebow's career and just don't know how to use him.
If that were the case, Woody wouldn't have sent out a presser saying rex was the right coach moving forward. He would have said that all positions are being evaluated. He should have at least said that he while believes in Rex , but the new GM will have some say in the HC position. If he fires Rex now, he's contradicting himself.
