All I know is if the Jets stink up the joint this year, with all this bloviating and braggadocio, then heads have to roll starting with Rex. Forget the fact that it will be 4 straight yrs without a postseason, it's the culture of this team that he fosters. There's a reason that this team is the only one in the league who has multiple players making these outlandish claims. It's so damn tiring and nauseating to hear, very much a turnoff as a fan. Prove it on the field and then talk sh*t. Not the other way around.
It is said from other teams. Norv Turner said his three QBs of Bridgewater, Cassell, and Ponder was as good as it gets. RG3 said teams won't be able to cover Garcon and Jackson. But use your head. You're not going to hear this out of Jacksonville because they prpbably have one beat writer working part time.
the last time the team and coached talked a lot was when we were playing in title games so they backed it up. Not much to talk about the last couple of years but this team is confident and that's a good thing. we have playoff talent for the first time probably since 2011.
there has not been much talking the last few years and who cares if they talk? it doesn't win or lose games. you'd be happy w/ them shutting up and losing?
Jets fans.. We found out this week we have a top 5 QB, the best cornerback in the NFL and the best defense in the NFL. That sounds like a SB team to me!!!! With all that talent there should be no more excuses for the head coach if they don't make a run at the SB right?
The only thing them talking does is put an even bigger bullseye on their back. It takes away from the image of the team and franchise with the never ending circus atmosphere. All I know is they better back it up or they will look foolish.
Uh - RG3 said you can't double both of them, which is usually a true statement. He didn't say something like "We have the best WR's in the league." I used my head and realized we never saw this type of thing until Rex arrived and it hasn't stopped since.
Rex Ryan 2012 offseason: "I am the best defensive coach in the league. There really is no comparison" Rex Ryan 2013 offseason: "I know I'm a good coach. The best for this team" Rex Ryan 2014 offseason: "I'm not saying I'm the best coach of all time or anything, but I absolutely know I'm a great coach" This clown talk from the players comes straight from the ringleader..
could there have been a bigger bullseye on our backs than going into that NE playoff game in Jan '11? if NE was going to be overconfident based on 45-3 that ended w/ all the talk yet we beat them up. Talking doesn't win or lose games. Yep, no one on Seattle ever talked big prior to winning the SB last year.
As much as I like Rex, 4 straight seasons of no playoffs, would make me not want him here anymore. Though not for the reasons you mentioned. It's not Rex's mouth that that has hurt the team, its his failure to coach up any offensive talent to an NFL level. Instead of drooling over defense guys in the draft all thesee years, he should've drafted the best offensive talent to handle the weaker part of his game and coached up the defense. If the team tanks this year, it will happen because of the offense again. The only years the offense looked good was when Sanchez had a good offense line and running game. Though I think this is the first year we've come close to having as good of a running game on paper since 2010 (though the offensive line is still a question mark in my mind). If the offense even sniffs the middle of the pack in the league this year, we'll be playoff bound.
One big difference, they're a great team and the Jets are NOT. You have to back it up if you're gonna spew it.
Seattle earned the right to talk. Hell they could talk this whole year if they wanted to. But not when you're a team who hasn't played a postseason game in 3 years.
Ok, well he said no one can cover Jordan Reed. Furthermore, why does it bother you so much that when a reporter asks Pace how will the Jets defense be this year, he responds I think we'll be the best in the league?
