Faith in Rex? Absolutely, as long as he's here, I think the Jets will have a good defense.

Faith in Sanchez? As evo said, it's a tough sell. I'm not 100% sold he's done as a quarterback. He's not as bad as he was this year. But I'm pretty much done on him being a long-term GOOD quarterback. I think he can be serviceable at best with the Jets. Hard to envision much more from him.

I could see the Jets making the playoffs next year with Sanchez if enough upgrades were made elsewhere. But I don't see him ever winning a Super Bowl, unless he was surrounded by the 2000 Ravens.

Re: Sanchez - Yes. Re: Ryan - No. Plenty share your enthusiasm with him.

Sanchez's ceiling is as a mediocre QB - a game manager. That's his ceiling. We've seen him hit it and go backwards. Can he climb back up to being mediocre? Maybe. Will that be good enough to win a championship? No. Not unless today's game changes and for all accounts and purposes, it isn't changing into the past.

So you mean to say: Sanchez - no, Rex - Yes... right?

Your comments make me think you believe in Rex & not Mark.

Count me in with Sanchez and Rex.

I think Sanchez was never given the appropriate situation to succeed, as Steve Young had mentioned.

They both won many games together, including the playoffs I still believe we can win many more.

    Faith is a tricky word.

I think Rex is a decent coach. Not perfect, but a lot better than most of the coaches I've seen at the helm for this team.

I don't know about Sanchez. I think he COULD have been a good QB... as in, I think he had the skills coming into the league. But things happen. I remember watching what happened to Ken O'Brien after two plus seasons of being put on his ass on a regular basis. He lost something. Don't know if it was confidence or if he just started hearing footsteps all the time or what.

In football, the performance of any given player is dependent on this performance of teammates more so than in any other sport and the physical price paid is also the most dire. I don't know if Sanchez can/will recover from what was lost the past two years when the OL performance nosedived.

So I don't necessarily think he's a lost cause, but I definitely don't have faith in him at this point. But I wouldn't have faith in many QBs if the Jets don't address the other issues facing this team's offense.

i still believe rex is the right guy for the job. he can win the jets a superbowl.

as for sanches. eh. i think this will prove to be his worst year if he ever gets to start again, but im still doubtful he can turn it around in ny. its gonna take a lot for mark to prove himself to this fanbase again and i dont know if he can handle the pressure. i dont buy that the first two years were a fluke though. he has shown flashes of being a good quarterback so i think he still might have it in him, but im not sure if we will see it in ny.

id love to see him turn it around and have a great season though. i mean, that would be the best thing for our team so we should all be rooting for that really.

Yep, your pretty much it. As has been posted many times before, his numbers this year are pretty much in line with all 4 of his seasons and pretty close to his career averages. The reason people are seeing how bad Sanchez is now is largely due to not having an elite team around him to hide how bad he really is.

On the plus side maybe we can find a team to trade him to because "Sanchez is a winner". :rofl2:

Rex should be here for 6 more years. You give him good QB play and we will win a championship. We don't need a Payton or Brady to win the SB, a second tier QB like Schaub, Ryan, or Eli.

Rex is a a top notch Defensive mind and his HC skills are coming along. I'm sure Browns fans are somewhat sorry to see Beli get the boot. I am hoping Woody's faith in Rex gives him the same opportunity Cowher had in Pitt or Reid had in Philly. A top 15 QB and a decent offense does wonders for a team with a great defense.

Sancho was horrific this year and while the FO made a shitload of mistakes by not putting a better supporting cast around Mark, he is playing like shit. It could be him, his surroundings, the Tebow factor, a combination. He isn't going anywhere so the best we could hope for is drafting for the offense to put good pieces around the QB for Mark & the future.

And we need an offensive coordinator that goes back to zone blocking instead of man-blocking. We have zone blocking personnel and Sparano ran a man-blocking scheme with zone blocking OL. Its like running a 3-4 scheme with small defensive linemen.

If we move back to zone blocking, we might even see more production out of Greene. But we should be looking for a high powered RB in the meantime.

Sanchez supporters are entitled to their opinion, but if you watch the games how can you not see how bad this guy is? I can at least entertain the argument that the WR/TE corps wasn't much help this year, but even thats been overplayed. The stupid "Tebow distraction", and turnstyle RT and LG stuff is bullshit. And the running game really wasnt all that bad considering teams weren't scared of Sanchez one bit so put a safety in the box all the time and we had to play from behind alot so the running game was taken away in the second half.

If you watch the games you can see that Sanchez makes awful decisions, hesitates, throws too high or too low far too often. 52 turnovers in 31 games? C'mon. He was barely SERVICEABLE when he had a top 5 running game, a top 3 defense, prime Holmes, Keller & Edwards and with 3 pro-bowlers on the OL. If that what it takes for not to be downright awful (one of the worst QBs in the league), then he ain't that good and we need to move on.

As for Rex I like him, but I'm starting to worry the job may have been too big for him. Definately willing to go into next year with him as the HC and he's done enough to get another chance.

This...I'm fine with Rex getting another shot but Sanchez is just plain horrible. If he doesn't get traded then he'll be sitting on the bench next year.

Somebody made a really good point in the Sanchez sucks thread. He wrote something like, "If Sanchez played for any other team, what would your opinion of him be?" In other words, if he was never a Jet but he had the identical career he has had thus far for another franchise -- what would you think of him?

If you answer that question honestly, then you know its time to get a new QB.

He's getting worse as the team around him deteriorates. He's a decent QB but he's not a QB that "puts the team on his back". After reading a few articles about how Sparano ran a man-blocking scheme with zone-blocking personnel, its no wonder the running game went nowhere and Snachez was throwing off his back foot most of the time.

But yes Nacho sucked a moose dick this year and the last few games basically eroded what support I had for him leading up to Tenn.

From what I saw in Sanchez this year, he doesn't deserve anyone having faith in him.
