I've learned to ignore people on this board that are so negative all the time. People like 3rdandDraw and others (can't really remember who else) can never seem to take anything positive out of a win and it gets frustrating. Let me give you a little advice, ignore their posts and move on. They enjoy getting the attention and making people frustrated and I've stopped letting it bother me or incite me into arguing because there is no winning with most people. And for the people that come in this thread to say that some people think they are "better" than others shouldn't be in here at all. It's a frickin message board, if people want to post about how they don't like the way others are reacting they have that right and you can choose to ignore it. They can also ignore your negative posts.
2005: 4-12 2006 10-6 Wah! Wah!! Wah!!! Yeah it sucks. I'm hoping the negative nancys come around when we officially" make it in to the post season.
Enjoying a win and honestly evaluating a teams performance are two completely separate things. Some of the criticism's you read here on the board are way off base and exaggerated. Some of the praise is as well. What suprises me is that people get upset over it? Opinions are awonderful thing. Alot of times some great points come in response to the inane opinions. Read what you have time to read and respond to what moves you. To get bent out of shape because of it benefits no one.
As opposed to the multiple daily threads about how much the Jets or this player stinks or the wonderful "we will never win a Super Bowl with ____ at ______." Or the "take of your green colored glasses" threads. I know - this year has been such a disappointment. We all expected the Jets to win at least 14 games. And to win last night by only three points was a complete embarrasment to the fans and the franchise. There is a time and a place for negativity. Today just isn't the day for it. And if you don't like the thread, don't read or post in it. Go back to the negative threads with your buddies.
I wish Chad was the most perfect person in the world. Then we could win every game by a huge margin and these "darksiders" could go join the T.O. Fanclub or something. Although, since a vast majority of the posts on here tend to degrade towards irrational debate between executive swivel QBs, the board might be too sparse afterwards.
Very well put, and you beat me to it - I was also going to ask why it is so important to some people that everyone agree with them. The title of this thread is so obviously inflammatory that it is begging for someone to come in and react to it. If you want to stay away from so-called negative posters, why create a thread that is begging for a reaction from them?
I understand what you are saying but it is just weird that there is so much negativity around here. Maybe it is because I am only 17 and haven't seen as much as some of you but I just can't see any reason to be negative. This is a rebuilding team that might make the playoffs. I am open to responding to any criticism of Pennington because I realize he has deficiencies. That said, I am one of the biggest Pennington fans on this board and I want him to stay here as long as he possibly can. What gets to me is when people makes posts after a game like Miami (rain, sloppy field, good defense) and only provide one side of the story. They criticize his decisions in the first, second and third quarter while ignoring his mastery in the 4th. They point to some of his passes that floated and some of the ones that supposevly got our WR's "killed". While I agree with the Leon pass the Coles pass was the kind of throw that we have seen all season and if you formed your own opinion instead of just listening to the announcers you would have realized that. If you are going to make a post that criticizes Pennington after a game where he played good, at least include a postive element.
You're not getting it. Can you see the difference between a post of "you're crazy, Pennington played great last night" and "anyone who thinks Pennington played poorly was just parroting the announcers"? One is a valid opinion that leaves room for further debate and one is patronizing nonsense that brings nothing to the board. The 2nd kind of posts are what we're seeing more and more in these types of threads.
if Pennys would be INT was caught, we would all be saying its time for him to go....he sucked last night. he sucked. he wasnt ok.....he wasnt hot and cold. he sucked! if youre not smart enough to realize that the team starts out with a handicap and has a built in ceiling because Chad is our QB, thast your problem. But to come on this board and berate posters like 3rdand15 and myself and others who look forward to a QB other than Chad is moronic
To be honest, my impression is that there has been far more backlash against the negative reaction than negative reaction itself. You say that you are open to CP's deficiencies, but want him here as long as he possibly can; but if you really are open to his deficiencies, you can certainly understand why others don't think he's the guy to take the team to the Super Bowl. Yet, it seems that anyone who has said that today is viewed as a bad fan because the Jets won a big game. Personally, I don't think that that is reasonable.
I have no problem calling out posters like you and 3rdand15 because I read in a thread like this last week that I should be calling you out. Someone was sick of hearing the "all of you guys" so I decided to get specific. So you are calling me "moronic" and "stupid" for arguing with you. You really added to the validity of your point by calling me names. Good job. And then you make the point that I am berating you and 3rdadn15 when I am simply trying to make a point.
I do understand his deficiencies but I also realize that all QB's are going to have problems. Eli Manning can't make an accurate throw if his life depended on it. There is one example right there. I never said that I don't understand others points about Pennington. I understand them and am fine with them. I just don't agree with them. As you have seen I haven't berated, called names, or done any of that with people who have argued against Pennington today. I have stuck to arguing without those tactics
youre missing the point....for you guys to make it seem that 3rd and me and winston are negative idiots because we realize that chad can only take us so far is retarded......the man was an embarrassment last nite....he looked like he didnt belong in the league, but we shouldnt mention anything about it? thats blind stupidity
This is a great post. It says something when a 17 year old ( no disrespect to you or your age) can put things in proper perspective.
No. You are not getting it. You can't see the difference between "Pennington played well in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line" and "Pennington has no arm and was horrible last night." That's the distinction that escapes you. Nobody is proclaiming last night as the greatest game ever played by a QB, but there are some that realize that he played well at the end of the game with the game on the line. It's you who can't ever get those words out your mouth. There's always an excuse as to why he doesn't deserve ANY credit - the defense was bad, the receivers did all the work, he made some bad throws, etc.
Very good post.. This place is way too negative. It goes from the top down on that... Everyone loves to bash, not many love to praise.
perhaps you could point out exactly what he has won, considering how his $64 million contract strangled the cap since 2003?
