It's a 5 year deal with the option to extend to 6 years. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3620
If he's a pro-bowl caliber left tackle, that would be a bargain and he would likely hold out for a better deal anyway.
I think the Jets would restructure it at after five with new bonus money and a lower salary so it wouldn't be a 10 million dollar cap hit.
I can't believe the Jet's FO is taking such a stand. If Mangold can have an optional 6 year why is it 6 years or bust for Revis. I was hoping to get a good look at this kid during preseason but that isn't happening now thanks to 1 whopping year.
Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod. . . . I was about to burst, so I called your phone number there. Some feisty little Quebecois answered the phone and cursed at me in Franglish. What kind of dirty tricks are you playing at?! Not to mention, I'm still all ootsy with excitement and anticipation. Howdoesheknowhowdoesheknowhowdoesheknow?!?!?!!!
Hopefully the Negotiations are not going like this: Tann "Says here you've been missing alot of camp lately Darrelle" Revis "Well, I wouldn't say I've been missing it Mike"
I think the policy is not to renegotiate until the player has one year left on the deal, then it's OK; but also, who really knows because they seem to be making up these policies on the fly.
Jets resume Revis talks, but can't draft a deal with rookie BY RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Monday, August 13th 2007, 4:00 AM Well, at least they're talking again. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum and the agents for unsigned first-round pick Darrelle Revis have resumed negotiations. One of Revis' agents, Jonathan Feinsod, was seen in the Jets' locker room Friday night after the preseason opener against the Falcons. He met briefly with Tannenbaum in Eric Mangini's office. The two sides were scheduled to talk again yesterday. Revis, one of only two unsigned picks in the NFL, is seeking a five-year contract. The Jets want a six-year deal, the maximum allowed by league rules. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...e_revis_talks_but_cant_draft_a-1.html?ref=rss sounds good to me. get it done already
That is good news...keeping the guy who is also representing Kendall out of the negotiations might mean some progress can be made...
Darrelle Revis Contract Talks Resume I was watching The Hot List on ESPN News and they had a short story about Revis' contract talks heating up again. Maybe we'll have him signed either today or tomorrow...finally.
