I would find it hard to believe that the Jets had any deal for JMac and didn't take it, but...whatever. Also, Kendall isn't asking for All-Pro money. As for the Revis-Kendall connection. Purely speculating here, but it is possible that Revis' agent is keeping Revis from signing to gain some leverage with the Jets on Kendall. Of course, he'd be feeding Revis a different story, but it has happened in the past (linking to clients together). If the Jets were to release Kendall, I actually think that the Revis deal would get done fairly quickly as a quid pro quo.
The latest from Cimini; you could see this coming a mile away.... Jets mulling disciplinary action against Kendall It sounds like the Jets are mulling some sort of disciplinary action against disgruntled LG Pete Kendall, who continues to publicly bash the organization. Coach Eric Mangini was asked today about the possibility of disciplining Pistol Pete, who wants out in the worst way, and Mangini certainly led us to believe that he might try to nail Kendall for conduct detrimental to the team. "We have very specific rules in place and the players all got those rules," Mangini said. "They were clearly defined and articulated. The rules are designed to create the best possible working environment. Pete is a professional and I expect him to follow the rules like I anticipate all players to follow the rules." The natural follow-up question: Has Kendall broken any rules? "All discipline matters are internal," Mangini said, saying a lot while saying nothing. In Mangini-speak, that sure sounded like the Jets are building a case against Kendall. Posted by Rich Cimini at 1:54 PM http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/
I have a question that's been on my mind while this whole thing has been taking place. Does this in any way create a negative perception of the jets front office and how they do business, to a point where it can become harmful when it comes to free agency. Granted, players follow the money and the opportunity to develop and win, but if there is a feeling (as untrue as it may be), that we're trying to screw the player, that is a bad signal. I'm curious what the people in the inner circles of the league think about this and what conclusions they draw.
You can't rule that out, but you have 40+ other players who probably would laud the job of the CS and FO.
I don't think they can really do anything during the camp / pre-season. If they suspend him he would still get paid (which is what he wants). I think they can only give a him a four-game CDttT suspension starting in Week 1.
This has gone further than I ever expected. I really thought Tanny could put something together and satisfy this dumb bastard. But now that we're here, I ask again... Is it impossible for us to trade this colossal asshole and get something for him? Somebody out there needs (or is going to need, after a TC injury) a lineman like Kendall to fill the gap. If we can trade him, let's just do it already and get a 6th or 7th Round for him. Christ, let's please not pull a Lamont Jordan and wind up with some possible token compensatory bullshit.
Well, this is the other thing too, MM. The longer we wrestle in the mud with this mutant, the more mud we get on ourselves.
The Jets were speaking to the Titans. If I were less lazy, I'd spend the time digging up the threads here where we discussed it. Take it for what it's worth, but it happened. And I was being a bit over-the-top with Kendall. He expects to make far more than he's actually worth. You're point about the agent burning the candle at both ends is a good one though, and quite possible. Stupid move, but that's the way it goes I guess. We'll see how it pans out for everyone.
It would be nieve to think that having the same agent involved here is not having any impact on negotiations for either side. Based on what we've read, there seem to be pretty clear differences on both fronts, and that is bound to have an impact. It couldn't have happened any worse really. The whole thing is a mess and is taking attention away from where it is supposed to be.
I wasn't questioning you on the JMac - Tennessee thing as much as I was questioning any GMs sanity for giving up anything for JMac.
That isn't necessarily a bad thing. You have people talking about Kendall (and eventually Revis if a deal isn't reached) instead of propping up the team with their stellar offseason moves or Chad or bugging Vilma about his second year in the system.
I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. I couldn't believe it at the time either, and I was very vocal to make the trade immediately, which we never did. Who knows, maybe it works out for us this year.
Both your comment above and the other previous one are both questions that I posed about a month ago that I though may impact later , and it certainly looks that way. I've just watched Mangini's presser (7/30/07) and for the first time (I've seen) the press are really starting to get to him re; Kendall. He looked angry and frustrated , He even said at one point , I know why you have to ask that question , but I've answeared it before , he looked ready to explode , not the calm relaxed presser that we have come to expect. On Revis , it was clear that Kendall and Revis are now related in terms of contracts , you can't have one without the other type of thing. Although the Kendall thing is upsetting , the Revis issue isn't big at the moment but with every passing day , it hurts us and him that hes not in camp , and that is far the more important issue.
Kendall mess gets ugly(er) Eric Mangini, perhaps growing tired of the disgruntled guard's daily rants against the organization, didn't dismiss the possibility yesterday of slapping Kendall with a conduct-detrimental-to-the-team charge. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...7-07-31_kendall_can_see_warnings_on_wall.html To which Kendall says. Yesterday, Kendall, who is locked in an ugly contract dispute, suggested he would file a grievance with the players association if he gets suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/118585600356490.xml&coll=1
Kendall = Just get him out of here already... I think we may need an all things Kendall thread.... just to make it neat
This keeps hurting any chance of getting Revis signed. I'm sure both sides try and keep the two separate but there has to be growing animosity between Tannenbaum and their agent over what Kendall is doing. While they may try and keep it separate I'm sure it is carrying over.
Could we please create an all things Kendall thread? He's hijacking our main forum page, just as he's hijacking most of the media coverage.
Kendal should get all that sand out of his snatch already. The Jets should get Kendal out of there training camp already.
