I like the $14,000 per day thing. Even Cannazaro was on SNY this morning mentioning it. So now, every channel is talking about Kendall and the fact that it'll cost him a lot of money to not be on the field. That puts Kendall between a rock and a very hard place. He either reports and behaves himself or the entire NY Sports World sees him as a stubborn, foolish, colossal imbecile. Let's see, it's 10AM on Wednesday morning. I won't be in Hempstead 24 hours from now but I can assure you Pete Kendall's car will be pulling into the Hofstra parking lot by dinnertime tomorrow.
I see. Riddle me this Batman, What would Kendall be if we cut him? (Which is the operative argument here...)
Naturally, it's in the best interest of a football team to have players performing at a high level, and it's in the best interest for a player to perform at a high level. That's how championships are won and big contracts are granted. Given his age, Pete is most likely not capable of playing up to a big contract anymore. He's got a foot out the door and he just wants a payday on his way out. Given the bad blood, why would he feel the need to give 100% this season, whether he gets paid or not? Any reason why they couldn't meet in the middle and give him the $1MM in incentives. That's an honest question, I really don't know why that wouldn't work.
Makes plenty of sense to me, but my guess is, Kendall and his agent are probably fighting this kind of language. I'm all for incentives. Show us the production and we'll show you the money.
I hope he ISN'T a Jet this season, for no other reason than the precedent that would be set for other players unhappy with a contract THEY signed. Anyone else seeing L. Coles pulling a stunt like this? And for all the bellyaching he's doing over his contract, tough, the NFL is a business, and teams as well as players are trying to get a fair deal for both sides. I don't care what was, or wasn't 'said' to him about being taken care of down the road, HE SIGNED THE CONTRACT. Deal...
You can't buy a persons competitive nature. If a pro athlete steps on the field and doesn't have the juice to compete no amount of money is going to change that. Kendall reported he is going to play, be traded or cut based on his performance. If he comes to camp with the right attitude and out performs the competition it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them quietly work something out.
Kendall is better then anyone else we have at his position, which doesn't say much, but makes me hope he stays until someone else better comes along.
Kendall & Jets Truce????? I am pretty sure I just heard that not only did Kendal report, but he is going to recoupse "some" of the money he gave back to the team in the past two seasons to help them with the salary cap. I have ESPN radio on right now, Max Kellerman show is at camp. Did anyone else hear this? Or are my ears clogged
I'm also listening to this God awful show on-line, but I haven't heard anything like that. Kendall reported but he ain't giving any money back, they might have just been goofing around. Not sure.... ---- Sorry, just re-read your message. You think he is getting some extra cash. Haven't heard that either....
I meant that the Jets were giving him back money from an earlier restructure. I was in the other room when the report came on.
If this is true, this was his sore point. He was pissed that, in his opinion, it was a "one-way street." Now, if Tanny has offered to give him back some or all of what he gave us, this is a brilliant move on Tanny's part. We save face, Kendall saves face, and now he can get back to working with the 1st Team. This might be very, very good news on the Kendall front.
Hey I just woke up and and trying to catch up... Does anyone know if Kendall showed up and how about revis????
