He does know when to scoot most of the times. Just a couple of times he stuck in there too long while the pocket was collapsing. When he got hit from behind last week and fumbled, in a few moths that ball would be sailing to the sidelines.
He's gotten beat on 2 plays in the last 2 weeks - both of which could have lost us the game. I was very disappointed in our entire O-Line after rewatching yesterday's game.
I agree that our running game HAS to get better (and I am confident it will - if you all remember, this OL group started off rather slowly last year as well . . . ) but I think the real dissapointment on the line thus far has been damien woody. He sucks so far. Faneca has been good but not great and he needs to be great for us to run the ball the way we want.
I would like to see an OL pick in the early rds next year. we need more depth and we need to groom someone to replace Woody or Faneca. our depth is downright horrible. and as far as Faneca its common knowledge the Steelers let him go cuz his pass blocking abruptly declined, we picked him up cause we had no running game. hes served his purpose but of course nobody wants to see him become a liability now with a young franchise qb. also at this point hes got 1 or MAYBE 2 more years left of starting. we'll see. hes kind of streaky in his game to game performances. either way our OL depth blows and needs to be adressed regardless of Faneca
