Sounds like the quintessential "Mangini player." I really think with the dearth of excellent NT prospects this year, we'll look for a guy like Carriker in the first round--someone who can really shore up one of the ends. We might also look to Gaines Adams, Quentin Moses or Lamarr Woodley as pass-rushers.
Ok i think we should save the 1st round pick and get Woodly OLB Michigan. Branch is a great player and would be ok in the 3-4 but his hight will allow o linemen to get under him and drive him where as a guy like Moore is better size, 6'3 325 if he can get used to the position and get maybe bigger and stronger we have our NT right there. Perfect draft in my eyes: 1. Woodley 2 a. Carriker (he might drop not having an amazing season) 2 b. Lenord FB (i hope we get him, best pick up period, can block, power run, revieve, will help the QB and little Washington for years to come. With him forget getting a RB 1st round) 3. O-line- we need a RT and a guard probably a RG because Kendell has just a few left and Moore should switch sides to take advantage of his mobility rather than his limited power.
shouldnt this be in like the draft section. Im gonna leave me draft predictions up to mangini this year i wholehearedly trust his desicion
I disagree. Next year we'll have Robertson, Moore, a healthy Tui and Pouha, all of whom are better 3-4 NTs than any player we can get in the draft or FA. Even if Robertson is traded, we'll be left w/ 3 ideal size 3-4 NTs. Conversely, at RDE we have Von "Old" Hoffen who sucks and nobody else. We play Hamilton there on occasions and Ball on passing downs but both are better suited as back-ups for Ellis on the left side.
