the crushers are the games when he actually keeps it together for 4 or 5 innings before the ICBM goes off and the mushrrom cloud clears with the other team having a 6 run inning. God damn brutal to watch.
after tonights great and big win, do we dare dream we get a performance reminiscent of the 15 inning marathon against beckett at home in 2009 when arod won it with a walk off? (shakes head viciously and slaps self with both hands) sorry lost my head, i retract that last statement.
what's the over under on innings pitched tonight by AJ. I put the line at 2 and a 3rd, seriously, against this lineup, i have it that low.
In a perverse way, I'm kind of looking forward to AJ's start tonight. It's like watching a train wreck--I know I won't be able to look away.
AJ is going to pitch at least 6 innings. Just to keep the fires of "who is going to the pen: AJ or Hughes" going even longer. Hughes pitched better than the result last night. A freak hop may have cost him his spot in the rotation.
Prediction #1: 2.2 IP, 7R, 9H, 2K, 3BB Prediction #2: 7.2 IP, 0R, 3H, 7K, 1 BB And neither would surprise me.
nothing would put a smile on my face more than having him pitch well and walk out of that place with a series win, but with everyone expecting the implosion, it's so hard to see him getting too far into this game. 7 innings would be awesome, i'd kill to have him go 7. 7 without 9 on the board for the sox that is.
Freaking AJ. Whenever I give up on him, he has a good outing. I was impressed Girardi pulled him right before he could implode, and AJ walked calmly off the mound. No question. My only concern with him was his health, and thankfully, he's been pretty healthy.
