7:48 PM, January 22, 2011 ι By MARK CANNIZZARO PITTSBURGH — The Jets arrived to their team hotel at around 6 p.m. tonight in downtown Pittsburgh and were greeted by a throng of boisterous Jets fans, who shouted the requisite "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets" chants. Following the lead of Bart Scott’s post-game rant in New England, the fans also yelled "Can’t Wait." As the Jets filed into the hotel from the team buses, amidst the raucous scene was Mark Sanchez having a brief encounter with the father of Aiden Binkley, the 11-year-old Long Island boy whom he befriended last month before Binkley lost his battle with cancer right before the regular season ended. Sanchez spotted Binkley’s father, who was allowed by security to wait in a place where he could have a moment with Sanchez. The quarterback stopped, gave him a long hug and a pat on the back while wearing a somber look. Sanchez then quietly headed up the escalator with a businesslike look with his teammates not even acknowledging the fan hysteria around him. A short time later, Jets veteran fullback Tony Richardson, as he’s been doing upon the team’s arrival to these road playoff games, spoke to reporters. "Every team wishes they were in this position tonight," Richardson said. "Like Dennis Byrd said last week, he said he would trade everything ever had and who he is today for the opportunity to play one game — and that one game for us is tomorrow. "It’s a great opportunity for this franchise, a great opportunity for this city." The Jets, who haven’t been to a Super Bowl since Joe Namath guaranteed and delivered victory on Jan. 12, 1969 against the Baltimore Colts, take on the Steelers tomorrow night at 6:30 at Heinz Field. The winner advances to meet either the Green Bay Packers or Chicago Bears on Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tex. The Steelers have six Super Bowl titles, most in NFL history, and will not be an easy out.
Lets make sure we get all the facts straight before postin stuff just to make the other teams look bad. Here is what really happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqKmZgcPUFU&feature=related
He's signed stuff several times for her before that incident, she's even said so herself. Maybe she's starting to make things awkward? Who knows what was going on there, but let's not judge based on one video clip without any context.
Measured prudent responses and putting things into context is not my style. I am a fan of the knee jerk reaction... I play the game of life on the edge. You can speculate all you want about the back story here but the guy didn't even give the lady the courtesy of a hello or any form of acknowledgement at all, was he that late for his flight? I am going to neglect everything else about his life and judge him on this one clip because that's how I roll. My verdict is that he's a cunt.
I hate to break it out to those that call him a cunt (not you of course), but why is this lady so important. I mean yeah, she's a cancer survivor, but Rodgers has already signed stuff for her several times. If she keeps popping up after every flight, Rodgers will treat her just like he'd treat any other fan. She got her fair shair of signatures and all that. Its time she's treated like a normal fan.
every time I read something on Sanchez and Aiden it brings tears to my eyes. I could never imagine losing either of kids and for Sanchez to do this for Aiden and for his family is just awesome. No matter what Sanchez accomplishes for the Jets he will always be one hell of a man in my eyes.
God bless that family and Aiden. Very sad. Hopefully we can treat him to 2 more wins. I know he is watching.
Was that the name of the article? Because "Tragic boy" is a pretty odd phrase............ <3 Mark, though, obv, and RIP Aiden.
