Parcells, not just because of what he did but for where we were when he got here and how good shape he left us when he stopped coaching. If belicheat had taken over him as parcells had planned who knows how things would have went as well
I leave Rex out of the equation completely, but agree whole heartedly with the rationale behind selecting Parcells. The man rebuilt the team immediately, brought in some key veterans, and first and foremost there was DISCIPLINE and COACHING.
As a fan whose roots go back to the Jets of the 1980s, I gotta go with Walt Michaels. He was the first post-Ewbanks coach to have any real success. He was the coach who guided those 1980s teams to their 'brilliance'. I don't know, maybe I really should be praising the GM because I don't know that the Jets have since had the talent across the board that they had when Klecko, Clifton, McNeil, Walker, et al. were Jets. And I had some issues with Parcells tenure: 1) his first draft (aside from Farrior, man that stunk). 2) His clearly short-term GM focus: Let's face it, he was GMing for his 3-year run and fuck all else. 3) he quit when the going got tough: I hate a quitter. 4) going back to those shitty throw-back jerseys!! That said, he did resurrect the Jets, but, really, how hard is it to resurrect a team that was really not all that under-talented and full of veterans who had enjoyed some success before Kotite? But, man, was Parcells full of himself!! At least Michaels got fired for something good: being drunk and hitting on the owner's wife/daughter/somebody.
2nd best winning percentage of any Jets coach. But, sure, he's a clown because he's half black and is outgoing and not afraid to speak his mind. And then there's a Mangenius: someone who is "smart" simply because he's a pasty, fat white guy. I guess I should consider the source: a white guy who has never had anything to do with the NFL other than on the Internet and in his living room.
And, you know, who ISN'T a clown? Belicheat: Sad Faced, Cheating Clown Parcells: Belligerent Bozo Ryan: Carnival Barker Clown Pete Carroll: Sideshow Bob
and the guy was an unbelievable nose picker. Every time the put the camera on the sideline, Joe had a finger in the nostril.
WOW, get a grip my friend and put the race card away. That shit does nothing for me except reinforce what a fool you are. Herm being black didn't even enter my mind. For Christ sake, the majority of the NFL players are black. Guess we should stop watching the game as well. What a stupid thing to do. Put your anti-white man guns back in your holster and save them for when you are playing with the other kiddies in the yard .
Yes I stand corrected, but then again I must have thought he was black to have made that funny comment.
Obviously Rex Ryan,4 road playoff wins two afc title appearances with Mark Sanzhez at QB.Its amazing the hate he gets ,He got us closer to the Lombardi Trophy then anyone else including Parcells.....at the End of the day that's what matters most
first of all, the percentage of players who are black has virtually nothing to do with you characterizing Herm Edwards as a clown: Herm was a head coach, not a player. I keep my anti-white man guns out in plain sight, so that you know what to expect, fucking racist clown.
The question should have said Weeb Ewbank is #1, Bill Parcells is #2, who do you think is the 3rd best Head Coach in Jets history? Clearly Parcells is #2. The Jets were dead in many ways as a franchise. They went (1-15) in 1996. He took them over, made them an instant winner, and they really stayed a winner until 2012. Rex took over a 9-7 team and got them to 9-7. What a winner! Seriously though, Rex would be #3 just due to the two playoff runs he had. No doubt he was a complete mess his final 4 seasons, but he doesn't have much competition as far as Jets Head Coaches go.
I officially ask for the Mods to take note of this. I think this is a seriously pathetic post and has no place here.
I posted it so that it would be noticed. I'm out in front of my beliefs. I'm not ashamed or hesitant in expressing my opinions.
I enjoyed the Michaels era but it seemed like we just couldn't get over the hump for one reason or another. I loved how Parcells came in and changed the unis and the mindset. It seemed like Parcelles lost interest around the 3rd year and was more interested in playing the ponies than playing football. Plus his asshole act was wearing a bit thin. Rex was great after the Mangini Cold War era. Rex came in as a rookie HC with a rookie QB and did what no other rookie HC had ever done. But Rex loved playing his vets over younger players to a fault (see Parcelles). It will be interesting to see if he succeeds or if he crashes and burns in Buffalo.
Parcells wasnt here long enough to be considered IMO. He obviously has the best track record but Rex did more with less. Could've been interesting if Vinny didnt go down in 99 but Id go with Rexy.
