I see 6 wins at this point. If the Jets have a few key injuries then I could see 2 or 3. If any of D'Brick, Mangold, MoWilk, Cromartie or Bilal Powell (yeah, I went there) misses a lot of games the bottom could drop out. I still see some upside in the second half of the schedule, which is not as strong, assuming that we're not just inserting Geno there to have his rookie blues. The reason I included Powell BTW is that I think he's the only back currently on the roster who can take 200+ carries, not do very well on them but take them.
If we flat out stink trading the Clowney pick for Bridgewater and some stuff is going to be a lot more appealing in my opinion.
true, but as much as folks knock Greene he seldom lost yards on carries. I'm also not fully sold on this year o-line either in regards to run blocking. There have been a couple of good plays, but most of those have come against 2nd unit defenses. It's pre-season, but when the two guys you were counting on to make the team a credible running team are in a situation where one has not been in camp at all and may not even play this season and the other is already nursing injuries, something he's had problems with before, and hasn't been effective to date then you have to say there's a potential red flag. Greene wasn't a flashy or big play running back, but he was a consistent 3-4 yards a carry
If Sanchez is out for any length of time you may not win a game until after the bye. The second half of the season you have a "should win" game against the Raiders. I always look at the division as a split but that won't happen against the Pats. Cleveland is a toss up. At best I can see 3-4 wins.
Three wins is a crazy prediction. We probably win at least three by week 4. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk 4
Yup, unfortunately although I think the defense is going to eat. Especially with D-Milli/Walls replacing Kyle Wilson on the outside and hopefully a heathy Coples, unfortunately Geno looked very raw yesterday. Although I was hoping that Sanchez would have an Alex Smith like year in a new system after a poor year in an asymmetrical fit of a system, he probably won't even be the starter.
6-8 wins still. 8 being relatively unlikely, but not in-achievable. This is a fairly solid, and underrated foundation without a quality player at the most important position on the field.
4 to 6 wins, the worst part of this upcoming debacle of season, is Coples is out, so have to wait till next season for is OLB curve to begin.
Jets preseason stats: Total offense: 7th Passing offense: 5th Rushing offense: 14th PPG: 6th Total defense: 11th Passing defense: 14th Rushing defense: 11th PPG: 16th Surprisingly the opposite of what we all expected. I know it's just pre season but last year we were near or at the bottom in almost every offensive category. The future isn't look so bad. Will we really have an opposite year with good offense and mediocre D? We shall see. I'm shocked to see so many people suddenly dropping 2 wins after last night. Like really? We don't look better than last year at this time???
It may not be rational thinking, but I dont take Preseason seriously. Dont care about these 4 meaningless games. I still see Rex pulling out Defensive schemes that will blow everyones minds and have us win more football games than most think. Our Offense is already better than last season and that won us 6 games. 9-10 wins with Sanchez.
If our D plays like they did the other night(minus the first play of course) and mark is healthy I think we can compete for a playoff spot as our ceiling.
In review of everything I'm downgrading to a 2-4 win season. QB situation is a mess. WR situation is better than last year but with no one to deliver the ball reliably it won't matter. RB I don't believe there is a dependable running game, and this has nothing to do with McKnight being cut as he didn't figure much in to the running game anyways. I like the DL and CB situation but Safeties and the LB corp concern me. I'm not sold on the O-line, it'll be better than last year but that's not saying much and there is zero depth on the O-line of real dependability for this year, winters and Aboushi eventually will be good, Winters maybe even this year. But need more depth than that because the O-line will get dinged up... The coaching situation is a mess and it's become pretty clear that Rex is probably on his way out, as much as that saddens me because we probably won't get a better head coach and will wind up losing what Rex does bring to the team, a defense that gets the most out of it's players. I do actually expect the Defense to be good this year, but I don't think they'll be top 10 for the simple reason I think they'll be on the field far too much due to turnovers and 3 and outs by the offense. that and I don't think the safeties and LB's are strong enough to make for an elite D. But the D-line will be awesome to watch, assuming they stay healthy...because the starters are great but the depth is somewhat questionable. And that's the biggest issue the team doesn't really have any reliable depth anywhere outside of the CB's. It's going to be a long season if I'm reading this right, and I'm usually fairly optimistic (though realistically optimistic) when starting a season. This is the first year in a long time I've felt like the team may be competing for the number 1 pick going in to the season.....granted last year about 1/4 of the way through the season I realized the team wasn't good and started thinking 4-6 wins was probable last year. I'm guessing, again if I'm reading things right, that the Jets will be drafting #2 or #3 in 2014...I don't think they'll be as bad as the Raiders, but they might be worse than the Jaguars.
