well they arent doing avery good job of it...fyi, when your defense is ranked 27th in the NFL...please state how you think they can accomplish to win 4 games by just their defense...that was a rediculous quote!

You have to know where your weakness was on defense. where teams were killing raiders for years. That was LB and their inability to match up to Tes and Rbs. well with M huff, Thomas Howard, Sam williams(has been hurt, Darnel bing(safety being converted to Lb) Your not only talking about incredible young defense but a exceptional fast one. Lets see how many TEs and Rbs have sucess this year going up against the raiders.

    here is projected starting defense Run downs LDE Tyler Brayton 26 ldt T Sands 26 RDT W sapp 33 Rde T Kelly 25 wlb Thomas Howard 22 MLB D clark 29/ K morrison 24 SSlb S williams 25 Cb N Asomugha 24 F washington 22 S schweigert 24 Ss M huff 21
Outside of w Sapp it just a bunch of Kids. Very very very fast kids.

Case Inpoint - ravens defense. They invested heavily in defense early in couple drafts and it didn't show results right away. Than they added some veterans to mix and transform there defense to a whole another level. IF you add the right pieces it easy to improve. Another case Jets had worse run defense( M Jones , M Lewis) than they add Vilma and barton in Fa and where was there run defense ranked. How did that run defense get so much better so fast. Same reason Get the point.
Do you understand now or should give you more examples why

and living in the bay area, i have learned that Oakland Raider fans arent particularlly smart, its quite amusing to hold a conversation about football with them...they think everyyear they will have such a great team and when all is said and done, the NYJ who are down to their 4th string can even beat them...you and the rest of raidernation should just give it up:breakdance:

What a stereotypical, ignorant comment. We're no more guilty of being optimistic in the offseason than many of the Jet fans on this board or fans of any team. Face it, we're both 4-12. Any arguments that the Jets are head and shoulders above the Raiders in personnel, coaching, etc. is just hot air right now. When both teams were good in 00-02 the Raiders mopped the floor with the Jets. If you want to be smug because your 4-12 team beat my 4-12 team last year, good for you.

Sorry, I like a good argument but don't tell me what "all" Raider fans are like and I won't tell you what "all" Jet fans are like.

The Jets cost you a first round bye with that win in week 17 2001.

Now the tables have turned and the Raiders must come to us. Let's make it three in a row in 2006.:)

This is fair trash talk. I would add that the Jets coming back for the Wild Card WAS a bye week for the Raiders!

Listen, these posts are fun but "preseason rankings" are toilet paper!

 You rag and mock making predictions and then leave us with this Gem.....

in my OPINION, Which this is all about and is supposed to be fun, no one said mock drafts or preseason predictions were going to nail eveything though many of them had the Jets nailed with Ferguson and Mangold..... But, My opinion is that Rivers is better than Brees, and I would suspect SD feels that way as well especially with the injury on an already weak arm.

That's right! They mean absolutly nothing. I must say...having New England rated 6 is a joke. IMO they are the favorite to win it all.

finally, a rational and intelligent response. 2007 maybe, if we figure out the qb situation right. if not, i don't want to even think about it.

browns are an up and coming team.they had key injuries last year also (winslow, receiver, and rb) and still finished with a better record than the jets. and thinking the dolphins could end up below us???? you were joking right?

I don't agree with the writers comment that we had significant losses. First, although Abe is a great pass rusher, he never shows up for the playoffs or big games. Plus as many have stated, he runs up his sack totals against the weaker teams. It's debatable about the significance of this loss. Kevin M is old, coming off a season ending injury, and was playing poorly before the injury. This is hardly a significant loss.

I'm not saying we'll be a playoff team, but I think we'll be better than these rankings and some of the posters here are saying.

You see the Jets as only being 1 game better than last year? I think that's being overly pessimistic. There's no way the OL is going to be as bad as it was last year, and barring catastrophe we won't have a 3rd string QB starting the whole year. Add to that the absence of Herm's miserable game day coaching and I think that gives us 2-3 more wins by itself.
