I could be totally wrong, but I'm not sure that it would help. Beating the living shit out of him or even killing him, torturing him, etc. is not going to ease any pain I don't think. I can't put myself in those shoes though so its out of place for me to say.

He addressed the media before the kid passed I thought. They said that on ESPN Yes, this was before the kids death. At the end of the article it states he is not expected to survive. This is NOT after the death
I don't think he had much of a relationship with the kid. Only recently found out it was his. That's not downplaying this horrible act, but it might give a reason for his demeanor.
