Yeah but became redundant when we got Mitchell no? Mitchell has speed, but also is way better at other receiver skill sets

It’s not a huge blemish but that pick is definitely a blemish on Moug’s resume. The guy couldn’t catch anything at all that was contested in college. Anything over the middle, he’d drop without contact because he tried to catch it with his shoulder pad.

We can play the “we should’ve drafted X player on the board” game with him, but I don’t even really think any one here had anyone they wanted at that spot. But there was a ton of recognition here that he was a bizarre pick.

The worst thing the Jets can do now is hold on to him as a useless inactive next year just because we burned a draft pick on him. We historically do this. Cut him and move on.

Smith sure sucked this season, but he is a rookie. There is no harm giving him a shot at OTAs and training camp next year, and if he still sucks release him at that point. In the film he is still getting open a decent amount.

Maybe Smith's forte will be special teams.

Yeah, no reason to cut him now…I’d bring him back to camp next year and let him compete…hopefully we draft a WR high to pair with GW as WR2, hopefully Mitchell can develop some consistency and become a solid WR3, and then we have guys like Metchie and Williams to compete with guys like Smith. I think Josh Reynolds is a goner…don’t even know if he has like even 10 catches this year…Lazard is already gone, and then there is the Taylor guy (#16) who can come to camp and compete.

I wouldn’t even have an issue drafting two WRs this next season, as I think our WR room has sucked big time, but would be nice to save some of those picks to fix this fucking defense, so if we can get decent WR3 play out of Mitchell or Metchie, that’d be a huge win.
